Greetings all

After reading up on the best possible combo for my first self built system, I finally plunged and bought the hardware 2 weeks ago. The system is comprised of:

Abit NF7-S v2
Athlon XP 2500 Barton
Thermalright SLK 900 (AS 5)
OCZ 3500 Plat (2 3 3 6 default)
1 92 mm Panaflo fan for CPU
2 80 mm Panaflo fans for case
Coolermaster case
Creative Audizy 2 ZS
Sapphire Rad 9800 Pro
WD 120 SATA
LiteOn 811S DVD
LiteOn 53227 CD

OS is WinXP
Now to the exciting part (for me at least :) ).. After reading up for the last week, I decided to attempt to OC to see how my system would perform.

Got to 11 X 195 FSB on default settings and passed PC Mark 2004, PC Mark 2002, 3d 2003, 3d 2001, Aqua Mark and Prime 95 (for over 8 hours) with no probs... However system did not want to boot into Windows at 11 X 200 so I decided to up the Vcore to 1.70. Worked fine on all benchmarks other than Prime 95 in which I got an error after about 8 mins so once again I upped the Vcore to 1.725. Seemed fine in Prime 95 for about 7 hours - no errors but for some odd reason after the 7th hour I got Illegal Sumout which in the case of Win XP is related to hardware failure?! Well surfed the net to see what that meant and alot of peeps were just saying to forego the warning. Went to 1.75v yesterday evening and passed Prime 95 for 10 hours or so (200 X 11). Temps are not really an issue as at load I think it was around 42-43 if we had the heater going inside. During the night, it was 37 if Im not mistaken...

Now, the question is how else can I try to get more performance out of the system ? Should I try to continue to push the FSB without upping the Vcore ? Up the VCore and continue to see how far it can be pushed?

The Abit also has Vdd (Chipset?) Vdimm (Memory) V AGP (which I assume is for the Vid Card)

I want to try to maximize the memory to get the timings to run at 2 2 2 11. Shall I try to see how far I can get to FSB to run and then up the Vdimm to stabilize the RAM ? I did a test at the default settings and ran the memory at 2 2 2 11 and Memtest 86 ran fine. Presently set at default timings (2 3 3 6)

Scores on Benchmarks are quite impressive which is why I think the system can be pushed a bit more... i.e. running at 3200 speeds 3d 2001 was around 1775 with 3d 2003 being just over 5500 and I havent even touched the Graphics Card yet

Any advice / comments would be much appreciated :)

Thanks again

Push the FSB w/o vcore increase. You only increase vcore if otherwise can't increase FSB.

I think you'll find a FSB increase more important for performance than ram timings. Hence, take the FSB as far as you can/want, then work on your ram timings.
