Hey Guys,

I finally got fed up with the noise from my Cheatsink/fan. It is a Thermalright AX7 with a Delta 80mm 5500 RPM fan. So, I decided to switch the Delta fan with one of the quieter case fans. The Delta fan blew significanly more air through the heatsink than the case fan, but to my surprise, the temp dropped 14 degreesF with the case fan. The temp dropped from 114F to 100F. Anyone have any ideas. The only thing that I can think of is that the Delta fan creates a great deal of heat because it spins so fast. Anyone have a similar experience or have any insight?

Thanks in advance

dude the problem was not that the fan created heat (which it doesn't .. the motor in there is a magnetic drive thats creates less heat than your fingertip) but that the fan created too much air turbulence in the heatsink so you lost cooling efficiency

and now for something completely different
