Waterblock for Athlon 64

I'm now upgrading from an athlon 2600+ (333) to an athlon 64 3200+, and I was wondering if any of you have seen a good waterblock for the socket 754.

I tried Danger Den, but their checkout process seems to not work at all for me at the moment.

I currently have the Innovatek InnovaCOOL(sp?) waterblock, I guess I'll have to ebay it. >.<

if the danger den site isn't working, email them - they've got great blocks.. grab an RBX with an Eheim 1250 and a BlackIce Extreme2 and you'll be set

I've been wondering about that RBX. Does it cover the whole processor?

Dunno. It just looks like it'd do that. Probably because it's so much longer than it is wide.

That's a good question LCARS, it's a shame you can't get a helpful or at least a courteous answer around here sometimes.

Here's a link for you:

http://www.procooling.com/reviews/html/waterblock_comparison_-_page_2.php

And a quote: <b><i>"The reason for this poor reproducibility is the fact that the baseplate of the waterblock isn't as wide as the pads on an AMD processor."</b></i>

Go figure. That review will sell you on a block that you can't afford, and can't buy anyways. In lieu of that, and after reading a lot of reviews I've narrowed it down to the Dtek Whitewater (be aware you may want to lap this one yourself some) or the new Innovatech block if you are looking for another opinion. Read around a bit and you'll see there aren't a whole lot of high performance choices... it's not real difficult to settle on something you'll be happy with.

Hope this helps.

they actually provide extra pads for you to stick on either the cpu or the waterblock, but Lcar's question was reffering to the actual CORE of the cpu...

I was actually reffering to the heat spreader, seeing how the athlon 64's core isn't exposed. It's not a big deal if the RBX doesn't cover the whole thing because heat does not travel far from the core. It's just one of those little details that tells me that they actually put some thought into the design.

The RBX won't cover the whole Athlon XP processor, but the Athlon 64 is much smaller in size, so it might cover the heat spreader.

But it seems to me that the RBX was designed specifically for the open-core Athlon XP series and then was adapted for the Athlon 64 as an after thought.

*sigh* I really wish THG reviewed waterblocks.

Well the waterblock that I attempted to order from Danger Den 2 days ago (but took me to an errored out page) just shipped today. So I guess that takes care of that. :p

It's a Maze4 waterblock.

i wish thgc did anything good lol
but youre right about that, the rbx was adapted, its obvious.. you should check the size of the waterblock and then just measure the distances on your board to know if it covers it btw, just thought of it
