Got myself a 3200 AMD 400fsb, copper heatsink running at 4800rpm - the cpu seems to stay around the 65*C mark - is this too hot? If so any ideas on how to cool it further - thanks

I'd definitely say this is too hot. First I'd reseat the heat sink, clean off and reapply thermal paste before you do. I like Arctic SIlver 5 personally,b ut other people choose others. Make sure you have good airflow, one of easiest mistakes is to have case fans blowing wrong way. want air coming in from bottom front of case, going out top/back. Arctic COoling has a pretty decent diagram and explanation of case cooling on their site.

65C is that idle or full load temp? if that's full load, then you're fine, if that's idle, then you're not, AMD chips aren't meant to go beyond 80C. If that's your idle temp, then make sure the heatsink's properly installed, make sure the stock pad's doing its job. If it's still really hot, i would contact the retailer you purchased your product from. I wouldn't use Arctic Silver because i've heard it voids the warranty. So use Arctic Ceramique or Arctic Alumina if you want to use better thermal compound.
