I'm a newbie and have been reading up before OCing my system. Am I correct in understanding that PC3200 or above RAM with Low Latency settings will need to be set to about 3-4-4-8 at higher FSB? What about PC4000 with LL? I am told I need high quality mem to OC. What about standard PC4000. If it is sold as PC4000 I assume it passes all frequeny tests and if the standard tests are all rated for the relaxed timings used to OC wouldn't say Patriot, Buffalo, KVR, Corsair Value, Etc... perform equally to the higher priced mem?
I am not a gamer so if I lose a few bench points for timings but can increase drastically by FSB increase that will be fine. I do a lot of A/V encodes and D/Ling .
Please give me input as to which direction I need to go to get more performance

Since you have the Prescott, you better have watercooling, before thinking about OC. You may have read that in the P4 OC guide. All PC4000 memory has 3-4-4-8 timings except the OCZ gold which is 2.5-4-4-7. PC4000 means youc ould run your ram synced at 250FSB, but i doubt if your CPU goes that high if you don't have watercool. It'll melt.

right... but who cares about Geil:)

Anyways I like OCZ's PC4200 EL runs at 266mhz at 2.5-4-4-7, i wander what's the gold gonna run at? 2-2-2-5? or just a lame 2.5-3-4-7.
