I have got a 1800+ CPU, using a qtec heatsink, i got it because it is supposed to be 'LOW NOISE' (30db) but i find it very loud.
My idle temp is 40oc, and full load with HALO, and other games is 46oc (according to ASUS probe) and the FAN runs at 5500rpm.
I just want to reduce noise! Even if the CPU has to run at 50oc at full load, it would be ok! Which fan should i replace it?

PS i don't want to buy heatsink......too costly and i have a Micro ATX!

THANKS

I love my pc
but my pc hates me...

you can run the cpu fan at 7 volts and it will run much slower. only thing you have to worry about is whether or not the fan will start at 7 volts. most will be just fine, your cpu shouldnt get that much hotter because of a slower fan but keep an eye on it. heres a guide to show you how to do it. or you can buy an adaptor that does the same thing. dont have a link to one you can buy.
