Was testing my rig against Hitman: Absolution's inbuilt benchmark tool...

With all settings maxed out at 1920 x 1080: max fps was 27!!!

is that normal???

everything except msaa (i.e. msaa = off) maxed out: max fps was 63...

why is that???

my rig is:

Intel i5 - 3470
Gskill sniper 8 GB DDR3 at 1600 MHz
Sapphire 7950 (no boost & stock settings)
AMD Catalyst Display driver 13.1
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

MSAA is a big performance hit. Do you need it? FXAA is not that much worse to be honest.

Turn down the AA settings. 8X MSAA in that game is extremely demanding. You also won't really see any real benefit in using 8X MSAA when running a 1080p display. Anything over 4x MSAA pointless at that resolution, aside from making your GPU work harder. Try using 2x or 4x MSAA if you want to get playable performance. FXAA also works if you want to get the highest possible framerates.

thanks guys... just wanted to know if that behavior was abnormal... I thought my gfx card could handle most games even at that resolution...

guess i have a lot more to learn
