Ok, this is my first post in the overclocking forums, I'm a complete n00b to overclocking!!! So I read the P4 o/c guide.... but how do I know what type of P4 I have? I've used Intel's Processor ID Util and WCPUID, but I don't know how to determine whether my P4 is an 'A,B or C' from it.

Whish I had more on hands experiance with intel's but all I could suggest would be to say to read whats on the cpu its self.It would probably mean removing the heatsink/fan,that is if intel like amd, put info printed on it.Make sence?

It's the 2.66B as somebody alrdy said, and with stock cooling, you should reach the 3ghz mark without any problems.

All that garbage you posted is unneeded by anyone since all 2.66's were "b".

Thanks for the info all.

Do Intel have a reference list somewhere for this, or is there a way to determine which CPU is which type? I've also got another P4 (2.4) y'see.

2.66 was easy, it's an even multiple of 133. 2.4 is harder, it's an even multiple of 100, 133, and 200. In fact there are all 3 versions available at that speed, 2.4A, 2.4B, 2.4C. Your handy tool would tell you what bus speed you have.
