Not so amazing that seemingly every computer manufacturer is releasing a tablet.

I keep asking myself...how much are they making on a tablet - I know that computers themselves are considered relatively low margin.

Is it capacitive? I'm assuming no one is releasing a tablet these days that isn't, but the exclusion of the word "capacitive" when they mention "stylus" makes me worried.

Hey Sergio the screen shot of the product specs clearly states Capacitive Multitouch.

Tablets like these do appeal to me but they still seem underpowered and the 10.1 inch keyboard is a bit small for me.

Yeah it's capacitive with the OPTION of adding the digitizer for a pen-enabled experience. I have an HP TM2T that has the same setup, just more layers in the glass which they will happily charge you for. On the plus side, touch is good for general stuff while the Wacom pen is great for detailed work.

Could someone please explain to me why we need tablets? Is the gap between a good android/IOS smartphone and a laptop really that big? Maybe it would help if someone could explain what a tablet can do for me that my phone cant? I know the screens bigger but it seems that other than that I can get a more powerfull netbook for the same price and I still have my smart phone. Do we really all need to have all 3? As far as I can see these are by no means replacements for laptops or phones. They dont have the storage or power of a laptop and I guess some tablets can make calls but at that point they still dont replace the phone because they are to big to carry all the time. So yeah WHY?!?!?!

You can't hold a Smartphone or netbook like a book. Screen is to tiny to share with an phone... and as it is, 4" screens are a BIT TOO big for a phone. trying sharing photos with family with a phone... like with 4-5 people. Netbooks don't rotate their screens. ie: flip a tablet to another person's angle and the interface flips right-side up.

I own a desktop (typing on now) a Thinkpad (for out in the field work as well as some home stuff) and an ipad(1) for work, presentations as well as around the house. Yeah, sometimes *I* don't want to sit at my desk with a 24" screen. I can lay on the couch or in bed and read, go to websites with an iPad / tablet.

Netbooks / notebooks have full blown OSed, you spend 1-2 minutes booting up. Watching TV, see something of interests and want to look it up? Okay, go to the room with the computer, boot it up, etc etc... a tablet powers up in a second (the way my Android phone DOES not) and it'll lock onto my network in 2-3 seconds and I can do searches.

Not everyone needs a tablet... heck, nobody really needs one. They are handy devices, like a cell phone, or any other device.

After reading what you just wrote I am more convinced that these things are a $600 something that people like to buy to feel like they have the coolest toys lol. I can hook my PC/Laptop up to my TV and share photos much better than any laptop screen or tablet, My phone does not need to be turned off so start up is a non issue. Even if start up was an issue its not a $600 issue, so as far as searches go my phone is the same or better being that it does not require wifi or a separate cell connection to pay for. As far as holding a smartphone like a book well I can read the screen just fine and just pass the phone to share it, Im trying to think how I would need to be looking at something at the same time as someone else im sure there is one I just cant think of it. I guess if they were to make one for around $250 it would be worth it to me maybe. I like toys and new tech lol so I wish I could come up with a decent reason to buy a tablet but it just seems like a big waste of money that apple slapped an I on and made popular. It seems that alot of apple fans buy whatever apple sells. Im not saying everybody who owns one is a apple fanboy just that this seems to be something cool to own and not something that gives any real added functionality. IMO they should name it I-waste lol.

There are TONS of tablets being released, android is taking the world by storm, however I do like the ability to go from mobile to desktop or docking and computing, for more usability.

Anyone know of any good Lenovo specials? Anyone Can Call Lenovo and See What Specials They are Running . .
