MSI 645 Ultra Overclock, please help

Having great dificulty getting any level of overclock with the board/system below can anyone offer any advice.

Check the MSI Forum on their web-site. A lot of people there are in the same boat on low-latency overclocks.

I've dropper timings from Turbo to Normal, and set cas latency to 2.3 from 2 as well as 2T timings,

But still freezes on 3DMARK2001SE with any amount of FSB overclock, also tried dropping FSB to Ram clock ratio, still no joy,

Have I just got a poor P4, that's on the edge?

Try this; MSI default VDIMM should be 2.5vdc. Raise yours to 2.7vdc and set your timings at 3-4-4-8 and see what happens. I think you can run Corsair up past 2.8vdc if you have to. You can just move it up to Turbo from here and lower your latencies a little at a time too. Good luck.

You could try a different ratio too. A 5:4 with a FSB at 166 and your ram at 266mhz. Check with Crashman or Scottchen on the right ratio's for this board.

Board wont allow VDIMM mod, (unless there's a manual option) But I was running screened and early TwinMos PC2700, so I upgraded to the Corsair 3200, to eliminate this as the cause of the poor overclock. I've dropped the timing to Normal and 2.5CAS latency as well as 133FSB and a lower ratio to recover the 333mHz memory speed the board supports. Even wound Vcore up to the max allowed, still no joy.
Would moving the mem to different slots help or eliminating all PCI slot content, or am I short of a driver update somewhere. The board is a version 1 if that help any of you out there.

Or could the GeForce 3 AGP clock be limiting me in any way, i've just upgraded to a GeForce 4Ti4200, is this more tollerent to AGP bus speed increases, since I can not lock this or the PCI clock at all.

Could I upgrade to an Ultra-C m0bo, or MAX and get overclockability!!

I'm there, managed to get to 2.8Gig, sweat as a nut, did something in the bios that allowed stable FSB incruments, maybe the bios writecachable or something, not too sure to be honest what button i pressed to allow the overclock... but there now. Got a XFX Ti4200 in now and get 20800 Aquamark and a respectable >13000 3DMark2001 score (card was only 50 quid on ebay.....

See if you can get more memory. My best buddy hit 26,000 in Aquamark3 with a 2.0ghz P4, 512k Pc2700, and a 9600XT-256mb card.

I have 2 sticks of 256MBit DDR in already, would extra make a difference, or would the 256 vs 128 MBit of ram on the Graphics card be making the difference here?

The extra memory on the card helps him out in Doom3. I'm not sure what it means to Aquamark3.

As you see I've made progress, but now wondering about 533mBit FSB Pentium. Board does not inherently support 533, but I can manually overclock from 100 to 133 to get to 533 FSB, should I be aware of any other problems?
