i just upgraded from vista home premium to 7 ultimate 64

it boots probably a whole 2 minutes slower than vista

i went through the device manager and checked for updates for everything but everything says its up to date

anyone know how to fix this?

Solution
I see your problem. It may be worthwhile to invest in a nice big external drive; storage is relatively cheap these days. It's always good to have a backup medium around.
Did you do an in-place upgrade or a clean install?

Personally, I'm not convinced the in-place upgrade will always work that well.. Most people have a gazilllion apps installed with crapware all over the place. Better to backup, wipe everything clean, and start over.

i actually think i got it fixed somewhat

prior to the upgrade, there was a compatibility issue with some programs - about 5

so i uninstalled those 5 and reinstalled

seemed like it was the anti-virus that was making it so slow

but its still a bit slow compared to if i did a clean install

i would do a clean install but i have no external to back stuff up to and there's too much other stuff i don't want to redo

but i think it's better now.

but if there are any other things i should know let me know
