Hey guys, Metro 2033 has dumbfounded me by giving me only 19 fps avg in metro 2033 at 1440p max settings dx11 4xMsaa,advanced physx,no dof. At 1080p res at those exact settings and with advanced dof it's practically the same fps(21 fps). 1080p res same settings minus advanced dof it's only 31 fps!?
My setup is i7 2600k cpu @ 3.8GHZ,GTX 680 FTW 4GB gpu(factory oc'd), 8GB RAM,1TB HDD. Even with the extra VRAM increasing the screen res to 1440p didn't help but doing that made fps worse! Can someone please help me here? Possibly someone has tried working tweaks to maximize fps(tried all the ones I could find after googling online and they didn't work after seeing them work for some other fella.) Thanks a lot.

In some places of the game it's practically so demanding that I believe it will bring all GPUs out there to their knees.

Example - When you're about to get outside in the very first mission you're in a room with a lot of lightning effect coming in from outside. The FPS dropped from 60 to 20 on my GTX 670 with highest settings, PhysX at 1920x1080, and just in that spot. It's quite stupid, but you got to admire the game engine being so demanding for its time.

If it's always on such low FPS, then I'm quite sure you haven't removed advanced DOF. You have to restart the game when changing either DOF or PhysX, so make sure you have restarted the game when you turn DOF off or on.

Thnks for the reply man. I am absolutely sure I have turned off depth of field because I was also trying diff settings out in the benchmark and it was terrible all the way through almost. Through single player campaign fps def varies with high numbers(I saw 143 fps a couple times during the second level I believe haha.)Lol, on the highest end gpu anything under,at the very least 50fps, is unacceptable. Can you recommend any hardware setup that will give me a "literally" constant 60fps all ?

sounds like your gfx is bottlenecking. most likely cause is the monitor being to small. set the game to dx10 mode and restart it. then start a fresh game... quit to the menu then change to dx11 turn off AAA and restart the game. then load up the save and your fps should be back to 40+

you really do need a bigger screen though. 4gigs is just way to much for a 1440/900 screen. on games like cod you will end up with 300+ fps and get severe fps bounce because the gfx isnt being used efficiently.
1920/1200 or 2560/1400 would be much better. if you can get a 24inch 1 you wont have to use AA on any games as the pixel density is so high.

So if I'm running a 24 incher at 1980x1080, I wouldn't need AA at all? All that FXAA/ MSAA wouldn't be of any use? Would love to be more enlightened on this issue. :)
