Hi, I spent a fair amount of money on my computer to play some pc games and Skyrim, but I have been getting some pretty poor performance when it comes to graphics and FPS on skyrim. I'm running 10-30 FPS on the low default setting. here are my specs:

RAM: 8.00 GB
Processor: AMD FX-4200 Quad-Core
System type: 64-bit Operating System
Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6450

I have already updated drivers. Also, please no "I have the same specs and I run 60 FPS on Ultra." answers. I really want to get this resolved.

Thanks.

Your graphics card doesnt even meet the minimum requirements for the game.
It's the slowest card AMD has made in the last two years.
It's made for playing movies not games.

I'll list you three cards that will all give you excellent performance in Skyrim and pertty much any game on the market.
They are sorted by performance.

I highly reccomend getting the HD 7850 if you can afford it.

What will give me the best performance of these 3?

A single gtx 660 will play it maxed out in 720P. 7990 is such a POS IMO. Rather have a gtx 690 than a 7990. AMD could learn a thing or two about design from Nvidia.

EDIT: GTX 660 in 720P with AA and AF all the way up BTW.

H:)

You think the best graphics card in the world at the moment is a POS ??

In one of my shops games demo machines , I have a 4gb 690.... and my 6gb 7990 wipes the floor with it...

Why do you think I bought a couple of them for my OWN games machines ?

There are a lot of people here who rubbish cards or hardware , and have never owned them....they just repeat what they have HEARD or READ......and if the cap fits....

All the best Brett :)

you can take your inefficient 7990. 690 maxes everything as well.

Hi :)

Yes the 7990 uses more electricity...you seriously think anyone spending £760/$1000 on a graphics card worries about a few pennies on their electric bill ?

And although the 690 is a very good card, it is easily beaten by the 7990 in high graphics games like FC3, and Metro 2033...

I compared BOTH before I bought a couple of 7990`s FOR MY OWN MACHINES....

As a rough visual estimate (with my ancient old eyes) the 7990 is around 15-20% better than the 690...

All the best Brett :)

Im young with alot of expenses haha. I cant afford the BEST, $1000 right now seems ridiculous. I am looking for the best for about a $100-$250. haha sorry for being so picky. you have been very helpful, thank you.

Don't worry about it. The 7990/690 are complete overkill for the average gamer and is a complete waste of money for said gamer. 250 will get you a gtx 660 SC. 300 dollars will get you the ti version.

IDK why Brett is acting so butt hurt over my comment. Get over it. No one cares that you actually own it. Does not put your experience with it past the many reviews.

Hi :)

I care because you are posting comments about cards you HAVE NO PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF.... and that may influence other readers of this forum...

All the best Brett :)

So please do tell. Saying that a 690 will max every game, uses less power than the POS 7990, produces less heat than the POS 7990, Only needs 1 fan verse the 7990, AND only needs 2 slots verse the POS 7990 needing 3 slots.

Again, do tell how the 7990 isn't an engineered POS compared to the 690. I don't have to own either one to read reviews and see the clear difference.

Brett928S2, "but the 7990 mops the floor...." AND does this even matter? What game lags or does under 60fps with a 690 that the 7990 doesn't? What is that? They both stay above 60fps with ease in any game? So your whiny point of it being the faster card really doesn't matter.

Hi :)

YOU have READ about them...

I OWN them and SELL them....

I REALLY do know more about them than you do.... just accept the answer from an Expert....

Or go read some more...

IDC if you own and sell them. Big whoop. I suppose if you worked at micro center you'd be pushing to sell the most expensive cards as well. A retard can own a 7990. doesn't mean much. How about a link to your business's website?

Hi :)

How about you get a LOT more polite....

This is an adult site and I have been fixing and selling computers since before you were born....

All the best Brett :)

So, out of no disrespect, you're one of those craigslist pc repair/sales person? I am a lot younger than you. Put first computer together in middle school. Not that much to it to be honest.

Your first response to me stating the 7990 is a POS compared to the 690 was condescending and at best an opinion just like mine. Your only two points are, you own them and the 7990 gives more fps. I point out my POS reference is towards the engineering aspect and you ignore it.

I could paraphrase you're, "if the cap fits," comment but this is an adult site.

Hi :)

I am the Managing Director of a UK Computer company that owns Computer shops and a Laptop repair company...

So ..a PC repair person.... hmm... sort of, as I normally work in one of my shops or offices...... we don't have Craigslist in the UK , but i have vaguely heard its a sort of rip off list or place... You work there ?

All the best Brett :)

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-7990-devil13-7970-x2,3329-19.html End of story. I guess next you'll tell me how tomshardware is wrong and you're smarter than toms.

Hi :)

Thats an OLD review.... stop picking and choosing reviews that suit YOU....

Read the later Toms review that basically said the 7990 Red Devil wiped the floor with the 690...

All the best Brett :)
