Borderlands 2 saving issue

Hello all,

I am recently having an issue where I restart the game and all of my progress has been saved, yet all of the items that I had in my inventory keep defaulting to the same place. This happens regardless of how much I play and how much gear I collect.

Any ideas?

I've been reading that it has something to do with the "Save Data" file on my hard drive. Anyone's help is much appreciated.

I should also mention that I downloaded the game via Steam. Does anyone know if I will lose everything if I uninstall and reinstall the game, or does Steam have some way of saving my progress? I'll ask the Steam help desk as well.
