Hydor L30 pump

I just got a Hydor L30 pump.
I'm confused about how to get the front cover off.
The instructions show a picture but I can't seem to pull it off and I don't want to break it.

any tips?

I'm new to water cooling, too but I wonder why you want to remove the cover on the pump and jeopardize the seal?
