I had cable and I could connect to online games no trouble....but I just switched to DSL to improve my ping but now I cannot connect to online games....grr.. I don't have a firewall either....When I try to enter a game on novaworld I get....THE INTERGRATED BROWSER IS NOT RECEIVING A RESPONSE FROM NOVAWORLD...this has been happening ever since I got DSL....so I hooked up my cable connection again and everytthing works fine...I do not have a firewall either...can someone PLEASE HELP!! my ping is usually much better with DSL so I really want to get DSL to work....my DSL ISP cannot figure it out either.
Most DSL modems have a hardware firewall built into them. You need to find out which ports your game uses and forward those to your computer from the modem.
Hey I actually fixed this problem...there is a patch for this problem on novaworld.... apparently some ISP's especially many European ones deal with caching differently interfering with logging into online games. My ISP however was no help with this at all....they just said it had to be a problem with Novaworld or my computer...grrr... anyway the patch works great!!!
