can i play crysis 3 maxed out? i have a GTX 660 ti and Intel 3770...

Any 660 ti owners who have played crysis 3 here?

More about : play crysis

Yea you can play it.
And I got around 45-50 FPS high so I'm guessing you can get around 60 FPS on the same settings.
But the version that I played was still in beta back in november on PC.
Maybe they have optimized it further so I dunno cuz the game isn't released yet.

I was in the mindset that 660 is better than 590 cuz 660 is a bigger number than 590 :p

As long as you can play it with 35 fps on decent settings i dont see any reason why you should be complaining. Crysis 3 is yet to be optimized even further so dont hold your breath. It will run on fairly good settings

I play it on max settings without AA and don't drop below 50FPS.

My 7870 is overclocked a lot so it is probably similar to your 660Ti in performance.

If I up the AA to X4 I can do high and maintain 50 FPS.

I got a quick question - why does it say that Crysis 3 needs 8GB of RAM?

That's just BS right? Didn't Crysis 1 or 2 something say it needed 8GB of ram, when in reality it never use dmore than 4gb, it just said that and had something to do with it really needing VRAM, not RAM?

I mean it's impossible for a game written to be compatible in a 32bit environment to use more than 4gb of ram...

It's probably just insurance because these days people have like a million programs running at once. If you just have the game running with like Skype and a web browser there is no way it will use more than 4GB of RAM.

Short answer: Yes, high with 2xSMAA or FXAA, probably max if you kick out AA entirely

The "high Performance" specs say a GTX 680. With a card like that you could probably completely max this game and it would still be "playable" although probably not at 60 fps. I'd say a 660 ti can easily run this game on very high, judging from far cry 3 and a gtx 670 can pretty much max that game without super high AA. A 670 can almost certainly run it on ultra without AA at 1080p, so no worries, it will look and play phenomenal on a 660ti.

You definitely won't be able to completely MAX the game, but really that doesn't matter much at the end of the day.

I wonder how it will fair on my GTX 560. I even get around 35 fps on ultra without AA in Far Cry 3, so even I can probably achieve 40 fps on decent settings.

i dont really care about 'frames per second'

If its above 30fps(Which is playable) on max settings 4x MSAA then i will be happy :p

I totally agree that anything above 30 fps is playable. The problem with being right on 30 fps is that when it dips (it always does) it will drop below 30 and then will become unplayable. SO, I try and shoot for around 40 fps. I would assume that the 660 ti can achieve 40 fps on ultra settings, maybe even with some AA enabled. It's a great card after all.
I really like the 670 and if I had a lot of money I would already have one (lol), but I can probably hold out until the 700 series cards come out.

I really think that anyone that thinks that 30-40 fps isn't playable is a flat pompus graphics nerd, especially for a single player game. I mean most console games run at 30 fps and you never here them complaining about frame rates.

you dumb thing is that nvidia have not properly priced their cards :(
you can get a Radeon 7970 Ghz for the price of a 670... Also the radeon cards now come bundled with a bunch of games...

670 and 680 should come down in price...
the 660 Ti and 660 are fine...

Yeah, I've read that Ati cards are usually equivalent or better performance for cheaper, but I also no that there are certain games that don't perform well with them and they are notorious for having worse drivers and a less intuitive control panel. Nvidia on the other hand seems to be compatible with every game and has a tremendous driver support system. I don't think I can go back to Ati, even though I know it's most likely a comparable product.

I'm kind of jaded because I had one completely crap out on me a long time ago. Like it would just crash anytime I loaded a game.

Have they confirmed they're releasing a hi-res pack for PC? If so maybe I'll hold off from playing the game until they do.

Maybe I was playing a different Crysis 3 than everyone else but with a 7870LE which is pretty much a 7950 with everything maxed I was only at like 20FPS. Had to lower most of the fancy settings like AA and shadows and was at 60FPS

i managed to play it on high settings on my 5870 and stayed above 30 fps.i cant say exactly what the fps were but it was smooth. i think the 680 is just given as a nod rather than a requirement. as the game is supposed to scale to your card/s so if you have 2 680's you will get access to the ultri high end features which supposedly still aint the best the engine can muster.
if you have an entry level card like the 770 you can expect lower setting, less effects and basically a more console looking game (especially when the new consoles arrive and they implement dx11 on the consoles 2). basically console players will get what we got with crysis 2 a dx9 game updated with a dx11 patch.

A short game, at that... And I got bored with the MP Beta after about a week. My setup would average around 30fps on Very High, which I consider playable in SP, but it's not worth the price at this point, IMO.

Its funny you guys say that. In some games the FPS effects the game engine. Some people did research and found out that since CoD Black Ops 2 (and all the other CoD's for that matter) run on a heavily modified Quake 3 Arena engine that the higher the FPS the faster your character can run, the higher he can jump, and the faster he can shoot. So basically People who play on 60fps (even on a 60hz monitor) are at a disadvantage compared to people who are playing at 122fps. If you wanna learn more about it, this article goes more in-depth on it.

I got the game!!!

I get 35fps all setting very high and 4x MSAA!
(Im not a big fan of TXAA :( ... I think it just blurs out the edges...)

I really like the game and the graphics... I think 35fps is fine for me... Its playable. If i turn off AA i get 40-50fps but 35 is fine for me :p
