I want to get a cooler for my socket 478 that cools better than the stock intel, I want to OC from 2.8C to 3.2 I know the stock one is probably even good enough so I don't want to spend $50+, have to take my motherboard out, have to screw with the stock retainer that's on there now, or regret going through the trouble because of the noise, but $25 bucks for some better cooling would be worth the peace of mind. Btw I can't find any info on the stock one ie noise and airflow or even rpm (though I think its 2500) which would be cool just to compare, plus I think going midrange I stand a chance of going through the hassle to end up with the same performance, which would obviously suck. Anyway I was thinking newegg thermaltake spark 7+ or newegg coolermaster vortex dream my suspicion is that the coolermaster probably is better made and easier if a little less gusty. But maybe there's something better for the money. I really don't think I want a controller.

Btw I have that Thermaltake temp probe now stuck on the side of the stock heatsink(which is what thermaltake says to do with it of course it doesn't give an accurate cpu temp readout but its consistenly 5 degrees F below cpu temp), what could I do with it? My fan is plugged into the motherboard. I also have a thermaltake xaser III highest with an open channel that would be cool to use for the cpu fan but I think if I do that I can't get speed reporting which is why I'm not using it now. I'm leaning towards the coolermaster unless I get some advice for something else. The instructions on the coolermaster website don't even mention thermal paste, I have some arcticsilver5 that I would assume I should of course apply in the same manner of the grain of rice sized bead in the center of the cpu(that dropped my cpu temp about 4 degrees F over the stock pad).

Does toms have this barebones forum interface to discourage trolling or what?
