2.8C on P4c800-e & pc3700EB not Oc'ing.
2.8C on P4c800-e & pc3700EB not Oc'ing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright Guys I finally sleeved my Power Supply and got my memory and well, IT AINT OVERCLOCKING NEARLY as Much as I had hoped.

Here is what I have that is important to the Overclocking:

Asus P4c800-E with P4 2.8C SL6Z5
Antec 430Watt with 2 fans
2x512 OCZ PC3700EB
Antec p160 Aluminum Case
Thermalright SP-94 with 92mm Tornado(Artic Silver)
Thermalright NB-1 with small fan that came with it(Artic Silver)
120MM Stealth Front Intake Fan
120MM Stealth Rear Exhaust Fan

Ok Here is the Problem, I looked everywhere for this chip and paid a high price for it and it is not overclocking near where I wanted it to. I been playing around with the settings, but this is the first computer I've built to OC since my P3 and allot of the setting I am not sure I get all the settings.

So this is where I have found that the system runs stable at so far(6 hours of Prime95, Sandra Burn in and CPU Burn-in all running at same time for 6 hours.

Configuration System Frequency/Voltage

Well those are the only settings I can think will have an effect on my problem of only being able to OC stable to 230MHZ(DDR 460). I really assumed that this chip which I special ordered for a good OC on air to at least DDR500???

I don't think that this is memory related as I turned up all the memory setting to the highest settings (slowest) and ran at a 5:4 Divider and still was same. Even tried 3:2 with same thing. What happens when i go above 248 it either won't boot at all or at lower 240's it may boot but i get blue screens. My Case Temps are running right around 88-90 degrees on full CPU load and the highest CPU speed I've seen is 106 degrees using MotherBoard Monitor at Full Load. I am really hoping that I just have something set wrong or It justs needs to burn-in for awhile, but I have all my fans running full speed and it sounds like a vacuum cleaner its so loud. I just thought I would get at least 250 DDR500, and allot of people around here said that I should be able to go even higher?

Any help will be greatly appreciated as this is annoying the hell out of me as I have been putting this system together part by part and it cost me a pretty penny and now that I finally get it all Sleeved and finally bootable, it isn't what i was expecting. I got most of my input from you guys and am sure youll be able to help me by either telling me what i am doing wrong or by telling me thats as fast as you are probably gonna get. BTW I am running the latest P4C800-E Deluxe Beta BIOS 1017.002.

Thanks again guys for any help.

Try your timings at 2.5,4,4,7 and see what happens. Doesn't go? Try 3,4,4,8 and work down from there. Whatever problem you're having seems to be board related.

Abit IS7 - 2.8C @ 3.4 - Mushkin PC4000 (2 X 512) - Sapphire 9800Pro - TT 420 watt Pure Power
Samsung 120gb ATA-100 - Maxtor 40gb ATA - 100
Sony DRU-510A - THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!

I'd turn timings up to 3-4-4-8, then disable PAT, then try overclocking again.

I have the same MB and I have ocz ram, but I have the pc4000 and I can only hit a little higher then what you are hitting. I have a water cooled system and I have a new hs(with fan) on the north cjipset. So what I see is you are doing just fine on the oc, might be able to pull a little more with different ram or by putting a new hs on the north chipset. I did some searching and found out that the north chipset runs a little hot for the passive hs.

SJJM has a good idea there, get a 40 or 60mm fan and screw it on the asus stock heatsink, it should cool it dramatically.

Been playing around for hours with this, just doesn't seem to want to run above 230mhz stable. Whats the highest VCORE voltage I can run safely? Also the highest CPU Temps Ive seen are about 108, is that to high?

Thanks for all your helps guy, once i figure out where the limit is with this thing ill post some benchmarks.

Sorry i'm not familiar with farenheit, so you do the conversions:D Highest i'd go would be 50C on a Northwood. And Vcore on the Asus board would be 1.675, since it overvolts.

Oh yeah also flash your mb bios.

Your temps are fine. I just can't fathom why you can't hold 230mhz with a 1.6v Vcore.

Well I got it going stable at 240 now, but it take 1.75 volts to do it. Its been running prime95 and cpu burn-in at 100% CPU load for about 3 hours, gonna let it run overnight and see what i wake too. Do you think I should try 250 at something like 1.85 volts, or is that to much?

Anything above 1.7V is killing vcore. Flash your bios first.

Under load right now it shows 1.65Volts under motherboard monitor with the temp being 114 degrees. So do i need to worry at 1.75 in bios but 1.65 on motherboard monitor? Any suggestions, maybe i should just run at 230, how much difference is there really, but i'd like to run 240. 230 i can run stable at 1.55 volts.

In order to get those kinds of overclocks you'll probably need 1.65v. But your shitty board can't do 1.65v. If you set it at 1.65v, it will likely jump between 1.60v and 1.70v. That kind of fluctuation destabilizes the system. It's a flaw in the VRM design of Asus's P4C and P4P boards.

Try these settings.

Set dram speed to 320 or 5/4
Set memory timings to 2/2/2/5/7 or 2/2/2/7/7 or 2.5/2/2/2/5/7

You will have to play arround a little to find what your ram likes.

Set vcore to 1.675 or 1.7 maximum

Now try a fsb of 250 or more.

I aint signing nothing!!!
