Everytime i hit send to dial a number, before the dial tone i get three
quick beeps (the kind you get when you start a 3-way call on a land
line). Is this normal? What does it mean.

First of all, as someone else asked, what dial tone? I figure you mean
before you hear the phone "ringing" someone else.

IIRC, those three boops signify that you have unlistened-to voicemail.
Perhaps the indicator didn't clear properly in the past, or you really do
have new VM and your phone isn't telling you that visually.

Rebecca

If you have an LG phone, it may also be the call connect alert. In the settings
you can turn it on or off. The call connect alert tells you when the phone
has established a connection to the tower. Usually it is immediate but if
the tower is overloaded or your reception is marginal it can take quite a
while. My record is around 30 seconds!

Call connect alert, you can change that option in your settings menu.
