Hello everyone right now i have the 3.2E prescott
I more or less dont like it it runs at 46 degrees and thats with my Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu Fan My goal when i built this computer was to run it at 3.5 gigahertz but the temperature rises to 55 degrees are these numbers normal?
So i'm building a friend a computer so i have a chance to get the 3.2 northwood and give him the prescott
Thanks in advanced

Well the northwood will definitvly run cooler. With Proper cooling(water) you can reach higher speeds with Prescott...Northwood probly wont go much over 3.5

Btw your temps are pretty normal for a prescott...

Anything under 70 is fine.

If your worried get the northwood, mine run at 42 under full load and thats with a 650mhz OC...

You should have no problem reaching 3.5ghz. Prescotts run hotter and take heat better than Northwood. Your temps are fine. Overclocking to 3.5C won't raise it 4C at idle.

got it thanks
also one more quick question

right now i got the 1GB corsair TWINX1024-3200C2PT (2-3-3-6)
do you think its a good idea to upgrade to the CORSAIR TWINX1024-3200XLPRO (2-2-2-5 )
or would an upgrade to Corsair pc3700 TWINX1024-3700PT (3-4-4-8)do me better
as log as i'm only overclocking to 3.5 - 3.7
or will the performance not be that much of a jump and i should stay where i am

thanks again

The 3700PT is the worst memory Corsair makes. Stick with what you've got or get some Crucial Ballistix. You won't know how far the Corsair you have will go till you get there!
