My wife just added me to the family Verizon package and am not able to get
my voice mail setup no matter what I do. I just keep getting the mechanical
voice that this is the voice mail and leave a message.

Any leads as to how I can solve this. I have three instruction manuals and
not one comes close to answering my problem. And by the way... what is 1X
mode?

Short of it: Call Customer Service, using *611, and they will help you. But
if you are a do-it-yourself, and the line is new, this migh help:
1) I will assume you already know to dial *86 or your own phone number to
get to your messaging service
2) When you hear the message, enter # (which says you are the account owner)
3) Your default mail code password as a new user should be your 10 digit
number
4) The rest you will be prompted for.
Hope that helps.

Don't know if you realize this, but you have to INTERRUPT the announcement
with the " # " key for it to work.

At least, that's how I had to do it.

And, " 1X " is just a more-advanced " D " (or Digital) mode....all the new
Verizon phones have it. Treat it the same as the old " D " indicator. There
may be places you travel to where the " 1X " may not appear. If/when that
occurs, full digital functionality (sending pix, data, etc) may not be
available. It usually happens when you're in a non-Verizon (some extended
network areas) area or roaming.

HTH,
Dean

Thank you Dr. News and Dean... I got it to work. How interesting that this
is not the way the instruction manuals, all three of them, tell you how it's
done!

Took a while to delete the many trial messages from yesterday!!!
