How to change default boot OS

I had Windows 7 installed and then I installed Windows XP. It doesn't give me an option to load Windows 7 on boot up now and just goes directly to XP. When I check the boot settings only XP shows up.

How do I add Windows 7 to the boot file? Well, I know how to but I don't know what to type.

Windows 7 is still on my C: drive and XP is on my E: Drive.

  1. Hi.

Run msconfig, go to the boot tab and select add entry, select the E drive and the system will do the rest.

By installing XP after W7 you overwritten the W7 bootloader, this will need to be fixed.
Go here for instructions on dual booting with W7.> http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8057-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp.html
Scroll down past "When Windows 7 is Installed First" item 6 will tell you how to fix it.

You should have started your own thread, be that as it may, my answer also refers to you as far as the link for instructions, but start from the beggining.
To add a second drive forst we nee to know what type of drive your system can handle, SATA or PATA.
After that it's a matter of fitting it and connecting the cables.
If you need more instructions please start a new thread.

You just hijacked this post. Its usually best to start your own. Is this legal on this forum?

Edit: Someone pointed this fact out already.
