I have a 6-core with a 10 gb ram, but my question is will my gtx 620 graphics card handle Far Cry 3, or do I need to turn the settings to low. I've seen people play with a gt 610, is a gt 610 1gb used for gaming?

More about : run cry 620

Set things to low. Your system is okay but that card is not meant for gaming

The game will start up, but you will get pretty poor performance. If you turn every graphical setting as low as it will go, you'll probably get 15 to 20 FPS, not a pleasant experience to say the least. I strongly recommend getting a better graphics card if you want to play Far Cry 3.

yes the game will load but it wont be playable. the 620 is a video card so dont waste your money. the 620 is junk for games and i really do mean that. it has 96 cuda cores but becauser its only got a 64bit buss its seriously crippled even in comparison to the much older 8800gs which also has 96 cuda cores but a 128 bit bus and is classed as entry level for most new games. the end result is more than x2 the perfomance for the 8800gs over the 620 and that would only run crysis at 30 fps minimum. in dx10 crysis 3 will need a 640 minimum to run smoothly.
better you dont buy it and spend the money upgrading your gfx. then wait a few weeks and buy it on sale.
really regardless of your cpu you need to upgrade the gfx. if you want to play any games.

It will not run well at all, even a 7770 lags like hell on all low settings on FC3.

Thanks for your help, what type of graphics card do you recommend.

BTW Somehow I can run Battlefield Bad Company 2, Call of Duty Black ops and Planetside 2 with no lag if I turn the settings down a notch.

Far Cry 3 is much more graphically demanding than any of those games, even on low settings. Part of the problem is Far Cry 3 tends to stutter a lot if your framerate drops below 50FPS, so for a smooth experience you need a faster graphics card, as 30 FPS in Far Cry 3 is much choppier than say 30 FPS in Call of Duty.

I would like to know more about your system and how much you would be willing to spend before I could really make a recommendation on a graphics card. You may also have to get a better power supply in order to run a significantly better graphics card. Also if you have a slower CPU, there might not be much benefit in spending a huge amount of money on a graphics card as slower CPUs can hold back the faster graphics cards out there.

$200 can get you a pretty good card, though you may have to spend some of that money for a better power supply. Can you post more complete system specs? Motherboard, CPU, at least a brand and/or model number of the power supply. It would also help to know what resolution you intend to play the game at.

processor: FX-6100

Ram: 10 GB but 9.77 is usable

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 1 GB

Internet: Ethernet

(all I know)

Monitor-

2 ms refresh rate, I believe it's a 1028x1024 screen

Can you open up your computer's case and maybe post a picture of the label on the power supply unit. It's really important as most graphics cards capable of decent gaming performance use a lot more power than the GT 620, and most systems equipped with a graphics card like the GT 620 will have very weak power supplies that won't be able to power any decent video cards.

Gt 620 isnt a good card, I have it, but it isn't that bad a card, you wont believe but I can easily play far cry 3 on low without any lag, actually i play it on mid it lags a bit though. Also tomb raider 2013 doesn't lag a bit on mid and neither bf4 on very low
