Hey all. I have a brand new Neo Platinum 250gb mobo and an amd64 3200+ cpu. I'm curious if anyone can explain the overclocking capabilities of this system.

I have the "core center" program running and tried an overclock. It reached 214mhz FSB before rebooting and then restarted at 210mhz (2.31ghz cpu). But then after another restart it was back to 201 again.

Should I overclock in the BIOS instead?

Also, temporarily I have an old Asus AGP-V7700 GeForce2GTS card running in the machine. It's AGP 4x. I've installed the latest drivers but I'm still getting some artifacts even when just running the basic 3d windows screensavers.

Are there particular bios settings I should use for an older 4x card?

Thanks for any help.

For that old video card you should probably just put all of the agp related settings in the bios on manual if it can't figure out the settings for that card using defaults.
You should probably use these settings:
AGP bus 66mhz
AGP voltage 1.5v
AGP Speed 4x

Make sure your video card isn't getting overclocked by the drivers or anything. If you continue to get artifacts try going down to 2x agp.

I've had that exact card, it runs extremely hot; you will want to install a few casefans or underclock the card

Interesting!

I played with the BIOS settings and here's the results:

BIOS settings:
AGP 2.0: 1x/2x 4.0: 2x/4x

When I boot into Windows the ASUS Smart Doctor program pops up saying:

"Your VGA card voltage 3.3 is out of safe boundary. Motherboard doesn't supply reliable 3.3 voltage. Please contact with motherboard manufacturer for help."

(with bad english and all)

Here's the voltage specs it gives me:
VDDQ: 1.48
AGP BUS V1: 3.31

Here's the voltage specs Core Center (MSI) gives me:
CoreCenter:
1.49v Vcore
3.31 3.3v
4.92 +5v
12.32 +12v

What's up with that???

The system seems ok for now... I still have not been able to play *any* 3d games (the the graphics are all just screwed up) but will try with these new BIOS and "danger" settings (according to Asus).

Any suggestions welcome!!

(Could it be my PSU?????)
