Crysis 3 single player won't go over 50% gpu

I can't get more than 50% on my GPU's in single player crysis 3. I'll hit 60fps looking at the floor, but the environment makes it 35-40 fps and it sits at 45-50% usage. That's even if I change everything to medium and no aliasing; seems to make not much of a difference between that and maxed out. If I turn sli off and go one card it won't go over 70%, but still seems to do better than sli; 40 or so fps.

Turning off vsync, same thing. FPS are different of course but utilization is the same.

On multiplayer I can get solid 55-60 fps very high everything and msaa x8, gpu's hit between 80 and 95% at that.

I've used inspector, imported cyrsis.exe, updated to newest drivers and done clean install several times now. Don't know if it matters, but I didn't install the 3d portions of it.

I've tried far cry 3 with the new driver and I get exactly what I expect, all maxed w/ msaa x8 I hit 95% gpu usage on both.

Any ideas?

Are your 670's 4gb or 2gb? Check their memory usage - I do know that c3 is EXTREMELY vram intensive. Might be a bottleneck there?

I'm almost convinced it's a driver/crysis 3 issue since Far Cry 3 has no issues whatsoever. I've been looking all over and haven't seen anyone else with the same issue though. Maybe it's a setting somewhere that I don't know about or have overlooked?

I am also going to assume it is a driver issue. I roll with AMD, but has Nvidia released new drivers since Crysis 3 came out? If not, then it could very well be an optimizing issue... I've been reading people have been getting shitty framerates across the board. C3 is only a day old. :)

is vsync disabled in both the Nvidia control panel and the game and is tripple buffering disabled? I had this same problem and it was a vsync issue, disabled vsync in control pannel and it went away.

Yeah, I've done all that and I still get crazy low dips and 55% utilization. I like vsync cause I hate tearing though. I'll try again and see how it does.

It's coming out now that I'm not the only one with this issue. Plenty of others report bad frames with 670 and 680's in SLI. I think it's just a driver/game patch issue.

Ok, I've got something that helps. The C3 vsync doesn't work well at all.

In inspector I turned on adaptive vsync and set at high frame rate target. There's still driver work to be done but it's definitely better than the C3 Vsync.

Hi. I have a single gtx 660 ti OC. I know its not as powerful as your system is but i have the same issue as you. In free beta with beta 313.96 drivers i had constant 55-60 FPS on high settings (Fxaa, 1920x1080). Now i have sudden frame drops to 30 and GPU usage at around 50-60% while frames drop in single player. I believe that nvidia will say that they did their part and its up to crytek (as they did with borderlands 2 physx issue).

I have found the solution!!! My GPU usage is now 99% all the time and my frames are up as they should be. I turned off the v-sync in game settings and set it to adaptive in the Nvidia control panel. Also changed settings to Single display performance and Prefer maximum performance on power management mode. But i'm certain that v-sync was causing the issue. With it turned on my GPU usage did not exceed 75-80%.

No i tried all of those nvidia 3d panel settings and none made a difference. My single 570 is hitting 45% usage and im only 20 minutes into the game. Latest drivers, v sync off, tried resetting gpu speeds, nothing... No problems in fc3. Anyone know what this is please??!!! Hate to think i wasted $80 on this game
