What is your windows 8 experience index score?

Last response: in Windows 8

I know WEI doesn't mean much but the windows 8 experience index assessment seems way more critical then the previous versions of windows. My rig was totally brought to its knees. So I am genuinely wondering how the rest of you windows 8 users are fairing up at this. So post your scores to this thread-

pretty good scores for a stock clocked i7 2600

Those scores look pretty good to me, I think stating that your rig was "totally brought to it knees" is a a bit too dramatic.

hahaha the 670 is one of the most powerful cards out right now and it only scores that i think it's a bit harsh but who cares lol

not only that it also achieved a 1323/7150mhz stable overclock easily scores 11000 in 3dmark 11. I wonder what it would take to score 8.1+ in WEI.

My rig couldn't even manage to score 80% of the highest possible scores. It think thats "pretty devastating" for a gaming pc.

Mine is a 5.9 due to having a HDD. Next is 7.9 on both CPU and RAM then 8.1 from Graphics.

Mine's 5.9 (slow HDD):

Specs:

Mobo: ASUS P7P55D
CPU: Intel i5-750 @ 2.67 GHz
GPU: EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 680
HDD: WD 1TB 5400 RPM

I'd love to upgrade to a couple SSDs at some point. I also have a couple 2TB drives.

Sorry 8.1 I reckon I would get the same with one 680?

Score improved with OCZ vector, its all 8.1 now I'd say perfectly well balanced rig.

humm there is an error the score is all 8 .1 so they should all be gray strange

yeah well the hard drive usually scores 8.2 when the cpu is clocked 4.8-5.0ghz

in this case I overclocked the cpu to 5.1ghz and the hard drive scored 8.1which is bit odd

I guess the error has something to with the cpu and hard drive.

Windows Index Score isn't very accurate and sometimes changes higher and lower for me...not reliable at all.

April 7, 2013 11:37:50 PM

I agree with edogawa nobody should take those scores to seriously Windows Index Score isn't very accurate or complex. But it's still nice to see just don't take it to seriously.

I just built an i7 3930 Rig, OCed it to 4.6Ghz, 32GB of 2400 RAM, a pair of Samsung pro SSDs in RAID 0 but an older but not half bad video card (a Sapphire Toxic 2GB 5850 I'll be replacing shortly). The video card is holding down the overall score but:

processor - 8.6
RAM - 8.6
Graphics Desktop - 7.7
Graphics 3D- 7.7
Primary Disk - 8.6

Overall 7.7 but a pair of Firepro V7900's in Xfire should remedy that quite soon :-)

Regards,
Mike

Mine is 7.8 rather disappointing.
June 15, 2013 10:58:44 AM

mobo is Asus P8z77v-lx
ssd is Force 3 Corsair

I was wondering what discrete graphics card, maybe using Virtu MVP, would even up my scores to 7.7-8.0 throughout and what improvements I would see, how much more noise I'd hear etc, according to whichever graphics processor it decides is best at the time. From the win7 thread on Win Exp Index, 7.3 for ATI Radeon 4800 or 7.6 for 2xDiamond Viper ATI HD4872 X2 in crossfire. However, the on-chip HD4000 is equivalent to HD6450 or GTX560Ti, I read, so if I ever add a graphics card and, say, use Virtu MVP (it's on the mobo already), then I hope to get a handle on the numbers

I do not know why I'm getting such low scores when I have a very decent laptop.
Firstly of all I have a Nvidia GTX 680m with 4GB of dedicated VRam DDR5 and I have no idea why it's using the integrated Intel HD 4000 when i clearly have a very high performance Gpu.
Secondly Can somebody explain why I'm geeting low scores on the Primary hard disk when I have a Samsung 830 SSD 250GB with a WD Scorpio Black 750GB Notebook Hard Drive (came with the laptop) in RAID0.
If anybody can explain these horribly low scores for this laptop I would very much appreciate it.

On a side note.
I did manually do multiple tests recently and the scores before the test were:
CPU 7.9
RAM 7.9
Graphics 7.2
Gaming graphics 7.6
Primary HD 7.9

your system automatically switches to hd4000 when its not stressed to save power. When you run a 3d application or a game, it should switch back to the gtx680m. WEI scores dont mean much so I wouldn't worry about that if I was you.
Also the score seems about right for a samsung 830 that is connected to a laptop. My macbook air samsung 840 pro scores 8.1 which is less than what it scores when hooked up to a desktop.
June 17, 2013 11:55:34 AM

My bad its a Samsung 840 and I had 7.9 before the test I did. I don't get it :/

I have two Nvidia Titans. I can see that on some configurations, Win8's use of only the primary GPU would lower the overall score.

My primary drive is a Samsung 840 Pro (SSD). But when I re-ran the test just now, I heard it accessing my secondary (and tertiary) HDDs. This makes me wonder if the "Primary hard disk" score (and therefore the overall score) would be higher if I disabled those drives. I would not be surprised if Win8 was stupid enough to access a secondary drive and consider it the primary. Next time, I'll leave SoftLeds running and see for sure what it's accessing.
June 21, 2013 11:06:37 PM

I noticed my Manufacturer is set to "System manufacturer", etc, and was wondering where the manufacturer/model info is stored for this Control Panel applet, and it looks like it's here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\BIOS

But I think Windows populates those values directly from the BIOS at each boot, and manual changes won't work (i.e. they will be overwritten).

FTR I have a Maingear Shift Super Stock.

8.2 for the 2x titan is quite disapponting.
I have only seen one system so far that scored 8.4 with 4x gtx titan quad sli
