Need help Overclocking P4 with Northwood Core

I have a P4 2.6Ghz with 800mhz bus speed, I have OC it to a 3.0Ghz at 933mhz bus speed by raising the Cpu clock from 200 to 233. But that seems to be the highest it can go i mean atlease in the bios it shows the mini and max of the cpu clock... i forgot what the mini was but the max speed indicates that 233 is the highest.

Please provide any information if thers a way to go around this to get higher clock speeds or if you just want to say thers not.

Thank you.

System specs:
P4-865PE Max, 2.6Ghz bus speed @ 800mhz OC to 3.0Ghz bus speed @ 933mhz.
Mem: Corsair CMX512-3200 2,3,3,6.
Hd: Maxtor 40gb UATA\133 @ 7200rpm
Video card: Radeon 9800pro 128mb flashed to 9800xt 412mhz/730mhz.

  1. You raised the core votage right
Do you have your mem overclocked or are you using a ratio for the cpu/memmory 5:4
    try raising your timmings
    add voltage to memmory
run mem test 86 at current settings (to make sure you dont have any errors
make sure you got the latest bios

    System Spec's:
    Asus P4c800-E 3.2e @3.8ghz
    1gb corsair xms pro2-2-2-5 aiw 9800 pro
    audigy 2zs klipsch ultra's
    74gb raptor wd 2000jb
    pioneer 108 pioneer 120s

  2. Core volt was raised but that still would not not let me higher the cpu clock its almost like it had a limmiter or something i mean if i typed in 235 insted of 233 which it shows to be (max 233) by the way... it would not take it in fact it change back to 233 before i even left the bios.
But I feel it can be raised even higher then that.. i could be wronge.. the CPU sits at a comfortable 41-42c Temp, maybe even lower sometimes.

    I did the 5:4(320) ratio.
I havent tried raising the timmings.
Voltage to mem i have done (2.7) (2.8)
I will download mem test 86
I have not down loaded the lates bios but i also havent
had any problems either. would you still recomend a bios

Kool i will try the mem test 86 and try higher timmings on mem.
  3. Sounds like your mobo won't let you clock it higher than 233. Maybe a bios update will expand the range a bit.

  4. My thoughts as well, the only thing that i realy dont want to do is flash the bios... well you know that old saying if its not broken dont fix it. So far no problems with incompatibility issues with hardware or software.
I mean what are the odds that my system will become unstable once i flash the bios. dont think thers any fixs so i have never flashed.
  5. Yea sounds like the bios update is your only option

    System Spec's:
    Asus P4c800-E 3.2e @3.8ghz
    1gb corsair xms pro2-2-2-5 aiw 9800 pro
    audigy 2zs klipsch ultra's
    74gb raptor wd 2000jb
    pioneer 108 pioneer 120s
  6. What Mobo do you have?

    <A HREF="" target="_new">40k in aquamark 3
    P4b2.4@2.8||1024mb DDR@392mhz||9800pro@420/740||Viewsonic UltraBrite 19"||Panisonic DVD-RW
  7. FIC P4-865PE Max (VL13)

    Heres the Link

You may have to cut and paste.. Sorry. :)
  8. Buy an Abit IS7
  9. yahh i keep that in mind for my next purchase...
