Average operating temp of an A64 3200+

As you can see from my heading, I have the A64 3200+. NOT the clawhammer, but the other one. I was wondering if anyone knew what the average operating temperature SHOULD be of this CPU under load. I have read some articles here and some people have suggested that their CPU runs between 35 and 45 degrees with the stock standard cooler. My system regularly reaches temperatures in excess of 70 degrees - almost double - without any overclocking and with a standard cooler. At what temperature should I start worrying about damage?

what the?!

I don't know the avg temps, but I can sure tell you that 70 is way over the recommended limit, 60 is probably the hottest you would ever want to risk. Your heatsink probably isn't making proper contact with the CPU, so what you need to do is go out and buy some Artic Silver 5 Thermal Compound, and re-seat the heatsink back on the CPU. That should cool it down.
