Hello All! I just recently built a computer during Christmas, and I really want to try out some games to really "test" the system. Any recommended games that really requires a good machine? or has alot of good graphics? Free ones, or ones to buy would be suffice.

Thanks!

Free ones (All available on Steam except when specified) - Planetside 2, Blacklight: Retribution, League of Legends(not on steam), Team Fortress 2

Ones to buy with hella good graphics - Far Cry 3, Battlefield 3, Crysis 3, Metro 2033, Crysis 2 and 1. Especially Far Cry 3 and Crysis 3. Those are straight up eye candy, but you need a beast of a machine to run them.

A good free game (online) aside from the ones mentioned above which needs good graphics is Hawken.

A puzzle game that does really test your video card but only if you choose multiple connections of the items, it's much like bejewelled but more intense. It's called
"The Curse of Montezuma" and usually crashes toawrds thae last few puzzles.

Using the bombs and other extras to clear masses of objects seems to be the worst of worst however, if you don't use them and only use the connect of 3 or more objects, it doesn't take as many resources.

I played it on Windows 7 x64 8gb ram with a GT560 video card (and 850 watt PSU).
It costs about $10 retail.

While not a demanding game, it is free to try... Mass Effect 3...

Fun game if you are into 3rd person RPG and pretty good story. It is also an active MMO game, but you'll need the full retail version to play online.

Thanks guys for all of the recommendations! I'll get on them this weekend! As far as specs its nothing to much.

AMD FX-6100
GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3
MSI R7770-PMD1GD5 HD 7770
Antec EarthWatts EA-650 GREEN 650W ATX12V v2.3
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Kingston HyperX 3K SH103S3B/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
ASUS 24X DVD Burner
COOLER MASTER HAF 912 Case

So far it seems to do well for what I need. Before I quit WoW i was gettin 100+ FPS in some places, but mostly around town with max graphics it was about 50FPS which is just fine for me. Since i recently quit WoW i've been looking at games to pick up!

Thanks alot for the input so far :p

Tribes Ascend has great graphics, and its very addictive once you start getting the hang of the game (very high skill required, slow learning curve).

Witcher 2 and Skyrim with mods will bring your computer to it's knees!
