I am new at this overclocking business and was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to overclock an A64 3500+ CPU or if they knew of any good tools for this. I am also looking at overclocking my Graphics card and also my ram so if you knew any tips or tools for these it would be greatly appreciated

ASUS A8V Deluxe
A64 3500+
Corsair TwinX XMS4000 (500Mhz) 1GB
MSI nVidia 6800GT

You wouldn't get far with the CPU overclocking, since the board you have is VIA chipset, and the AGP/PCI lock isn't fully functional. Sorry to say but the good ram you've bought will be wasted. Try to return the ram and get a pair of the 3200XL rams.

As for the video card, use Nvidia's coolbit, be sure to overclock only the 3d speed, you should hit 400/1100 no problem, which are the ultra's speeds, using stock cooling. Providing that you have good airflow in your case.

My system is watercooled including Graphics card so hopefully I don't need to worry about the temperatures. What do you mean when you say use nVidia's Coolbit. I am keeping the ram as I hope with the release of the new nForce4 boards thaat they will yield better results for me. thanks for the advice though.

What motherboard do you recommend I buy if I want to overclock and get some good results.

For the Nforce3 chipset the gigabyte board is the best at overclocking. But Nforce4's are on the way with PCI Express and SLI. But since you already have a 6800GT just go with the Gigabyte board.

Would there be any positives if I waited and bought a new nForce4 board or would the gigabyte board be a better investment for me atm.

I have a ASUS A8V Deluxe(2.0), 3200+(90nm)939 and have been wanting to overclock it slightly(from 2.0 GHZ to 2.2GHZ) is it not possible to clock an A8V this little fairly easily?

What the hell are you people going on about, if you have the wifi version of the A8V you can't overclock because indeed it doesn't have pci lock (this is rev 1) but if you have the non wifi version of the A8V you CAN overclock the pci lock works on that one (this is rev 2). As for the memory look at my signature and tell it's bad mem, sure you can get better and MORE EXPENSIVE ram but that pc4000 does the trick quite well.
