Hi,

Just thought I'd share some some numbers from a little time I spent looking at underclocking and overclocking.

I underclocked/overclocked my XP2500 Mobile, I used the fan from a regular XP2500 for all values here, no special case fans and a regular generic PSU. Corsair Value System PC3200.

Underclocking
-------------

FSB 200. Any multiplier 9 or below (1800Mhz) needed
. . . . . . 1.275V

FSB 100. Any multipler 15 or below (1500Mhz) needed
. . . . . . 1.1 Volts (That's as low as my ABIT NF7 will
. . . . . . go)

As these were only experimental numbers I only ran prime 95 for 15+/- minutes without a problem.

Temperatures were nice and low (compartively speaking).
About 30-35C for the CPU. Chipset temp about 8-10C cooler.

Underclocking seemed interesting because it seems to afford the opportunity to make a really silent server. Something that u could leave running in a small apartment without disturbing your sleep.

Overclocks - Memory was set at 2.7V
----------

. . 200x11.0@1.5
. . 200x11.5@1.575
. . 200x12.0@1.675
. . -- 2450 @ 1.775-- Thats as high as I wanted to go
. . . . . . . . . . . with the basic air

. . 150x14@1.475 was ok, but not 160x14
. . 170x13@1.500 was ok, but not 180x13

I generally ran Prime95 Heat torture for 1-4hrs without
failure before moving on.

The loving are the daring!

Numbers are impressive, particually the underclocking ones, 1.1 volts? Thats awesome.
