How to hack FF7

Yes, Final Fantasy 7!
This is the best RPG from Square Soft, I think.
This game give lots of rooms and flexiblity to gamers, let gamers think, and creat.
You can creat very different player characters at the end of tne game, in short, it give rooms to gamers, and urge gamers to be creative.
When I look at many other games, their so call upgrade versions, better AI, increase difficult, usually means less rooms, more limitations to gamers, they want gamers to fallow strictly the route defined by game makers, that the reason I like this FF7 so much.

When I try to paly FF7 in my new system(not very new actually), the ff7 configuration utility does not recognise my ATI 9000pro, so I can only paly in software rendering mode. I then try to change the registry value DD_GUID in:

Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Square Soft,Inc\Final Fantasy VII\1.00\Graphic\

to a GUID value which I copy from:

HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Diect3D\Drivers\Direct3D HAL\

When I run FF7 angain, the game start with better looking graphic, but crash.

I search the web, inculding Eidos, SquareSoft site but no proper patch found.

Can anyone suggest me a remedy?
