Get PCmark04 for your synthetic benchmarks. 3Dmark01 and others doesnt focus on the CPUs as good as PCMark04

If you went all the way on it then get 3dmark05, really only for those x800 and 6800 junkies. Otherwise 3dmark03 is my prime choice.

3DMark2001 is good for overall system, CPU, memory, and GPU. 3DMark03 is good for high-setting game performance (where CPU is less of a factor, but still somewhat of a factor). 3DMark05 is good for straight-up GPU testing, so far I've seen only a little difference between an FX55's score and an AXP 2500+'s score.

Maxtor disgraces the six letters that make Matrox.

Yes I woudl say 3D mark03. In 3D mark 01 I got 21K to 22K with both a 9800PRO and the 6800GT so there is some limit on cpu there. In 3D mark 03 i get 11300 or something like that and CPU speed doesn't impact score a lot but it is noticable when I overclock...

If u have a radeon of any kind then 3dmark 2k1 is great because they scale very well with it as cpu gets faster. Nvidia cards dont do well on 3dmark2k1 because nvidia removed the cheats in nature and a 6800GT will score similary to a 9800pro as stated above.
