Hello guys, im back again. Im using my 'new' PC for a while now (i have asked you guys for some advice last time etc.), but really want a new CPU cooler because my PC is running a little to hot when im compiling stuff etc. And I'm going to OC my PC. I really dont want to mess with watercooling either.
My Specs:
FX-53 / MSI K8N Neo2 / OCZ PC4400 Gold.

I've seen a few possible CPU-coolers:
-Thermaltake Venus 12+,
-Thermalright XP-90 (XP-120 doens't fit),
-Thermaltake SilentTower LGA775,
-Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu,
-Coolermaster Hyper 6 Heatpipe Full copper,
-Gigabyte 3D Rocket Cooler-Pro.

But I don't know which is best... Can someone help me out?

The Zalman is VERY quiet and does a very good job cooling. If you have enough room go for it or even the next size up.

The Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu LED (blue led inside) and the Thermalright XP-90 are as far as I think the best options. The Zalman is very quiet and I like that, so I think I'll buy that one, although It's a little very heavy :p hope the board holds it. Ah well, maybe I'll make a system around it so it spreads the weight. But btw, will that Zalman 7000cu fit on my mobo when I have that big 6800Extreme installed?.. have to take a look at that before I buy it.

p.s. what does a fanmate exactly do? I read that you can adjust fanspeeds with it, but I just want the PC itseld deside when it needs more cooling or not.

If your motherboard controls fanspeed then you don't really need the fanmate. It is just as you said, a fancontroller.
If your motherboard doesn't do it and you want automatic fan controlling the only option is the innovatek fan-o-matic. It's about $150 but has 6 temp sensors, can control 4 fans, auto adjusts fan voltage to temp, has lcd mod functionality, software interface and button interface, network monitoring, and more :)

The other heatsinks are just too... much, too much look-at-me-and-my-bigass-pc kind of stuff, its just crap in my eyes. My heatsink has to fit it with the case (got a Nexus Breeze) so the XP-90 would fit in very good, but the Zalman is something very nice aswell. Does anyone know which has the best performance of those two? And im not going to overclock to much, not further than 2,6 maybe 2,7Ghz. Just want my PC very tight with timings etc.
One last thing, with those multipliers, lower is better right? Cause I saw some people who had it close to 20x so im a little confused.

Yea I saw none of the stores have the one with the fan on it. But how do I place the fan on it anyways? I don't see a mechanisme that can hold a fan.

The Vantec Tornado is amazing with its 119.0 CFM(!). But It comes with a lot of noise. But I was thinking.. my motherboard adjusts the speed of the fan, so I will only hear that full 56.4dBA when its really needed, right? If not, ill have a look for that Sunon.

Well I had a look around fot a fancontroller which supports 12V fans, this is the only one I liked so far, the Aerocool Gatewatch: <A HREF="http://www.ikbenstil.nl/images/8251-c.jpg" target="_new">http://www.ikbenstil.nl/images/8251-c.jpg</A>
But I can find any info on wether it controls the fans automaticly or not, because I want it to be done automatic.
And I was thinking again, isn't there a way to link the fancontrol from the mobo thrue a fancontrolbay in 5,25" bay to the CPU fan?

Just get some 120mm Panaflo M1A Fans. They are only 4.03watts, 35dB, and move 86.5 CFM. That ain't bad and they will work on any of the fan controllers you were looking at.
<A HREF="http://www.frozencpu.com/fan-18.html" target="_new">http://www.frozencpu.com/fan-18.html</A>
I've got 2 of them in my case, they are VERY quiet and move a lot of air.
Here is the 92mm version too:
<A HREF="http://www.frozencpu.com/fan-87.html" target="_new">http://www.frozencpu.com/fan-87.html</A>
It still moves 56.8 CFM, that aint to bad considering it is still very quiet.

That 92mm should do the trick in combination with that L.I.S.

I looked up that Tornado fan and it only draws 12.5watts. Just get a CoolerMaster Aerogate II. It has 4 temp sensors, can control 4 fans, and has 18watt per channel output. A couple of my friends have that controller, it is pretty nice.
If you want a completely automatic fan controller go for the innovatek fan-o-matic. It puts out 12watts perchannel so it should handle those fans fine.

I found this sexy one, but cant find any specs:

There's a review of it @hardwaremod.com and here's what they say:
Pros:
·Looks great!
·Cheap ($29.99)
·Fits in a 3.5” drive bay
·Ability to control three different fans and beep to alert the user of a non spinning fan and extreme temperatures
·Includes a clock

Cons:
·A lot of wires! (this is a personal thing)
·Can only display the time in 24 hour time (again, personal)
·Does not specify the maximum watt fan that can be used.

So even they don't know the maximum wattage that can be used :s strange.. I'll send an email to Xoxide.com to ask them what the max. is.

This cool aswell, but is it usefull?:

Eh, I would stick with the Aerogate II. It is a very good fan controller at a decent price. I don't think there are to many fan controllers out there that can do 18watts per channel and it will be good to have with tornado fans.

I'm going to buy the XP-90 for sure, but i'm a little sceptic about the Vantec Tornado:
"TD9238H 92mm 1.00A 4800RPM 119 CFM 70.1 dB"
70.1dB(!) is a lot, but i probably wont run at the max very often, and I have got a Nexus Breeze case which is fully fitted with nois absorbing stuff.
Musy, can you tell me if the sounds it creates (since you own a Tornade fan) is a high or a low sound? (Case blocks low sounds better)
And I'll buy or the Aerogate 3 or the Fan-O-Matic, depending on wether the Aerogate can run automaticly or not.

Hi Guys, been watching your posts and thought I'd pass on some experiences. I have almost the same setup, I'm currently using the XP-90 with a 92mm Panaflo M1A. On high, which for noise is barely tolerable (for me), my temps are not low enough for me. Usually 43/55. Tried the 7000 and it wasn't near as good as the XP-90. I've also lapped the XP and the heatspreader. I've done some minor mods to the case to impove airflow so I know that isn't an issue. There are several better cooling heatsinks out there. If your are going to do any OC then you might consider something better than the XP-90. The new 120's, any of them, won't fit. On 1/28 thermaltake will release the t450 and it sounds interesting. You might want to wait and take a look at it, it is already on their sight and is approved by AMD.

My Panaflo works good on the XP, especially when lowered to about 10v, the Tornado would work much better but the reviews on the sound make it unattractive, to me. The fans are exchanged very easy with the clip setup on the XP. you might try both, and decide your preference.

Also be aware of the temp reporting issues with this board, make sure your bios is at least 1.3

If you go with the XP, try reversing your back fan to blow in over the CPU and you will get lower temps with less fan speed. It works for my case.

Good Luck

The fan-o-matic is the only fancontroller that auto adjustst fan voltage to temp. It has tons of other features beyond just a fan controller too. You have to sort of expect that due to it's $150 price tag :)
