As a long a long time Verizon customer we have always gone with a 2 Yr
contract. As we use use our phones more and more our phones are barely
making the two year contract period. Our contract is up in Dec. and our
V60s's are running on empty. The phones have been fine but after a few
droppings and the normal day to day beating they get in my wife's purse
and my pocket they do suffer a lot of abuse.
QUESTION: Would it be better to pay more up front for a 1 Yr contract
and get a new phone every year or do the cheaper 2 year contract??

I'd recommend the shorter contract. Pick up new phone on Ebay or elsewhere
online if you need one.

Are you on a Familyshare? It would effect the math.

Take the price difference on equipment between the
1yr and 2yr plans.

Add $100 ($200 if separate contracts) for new-any-two.

Sounds like the V60s are still working fine. Keep them
as backups in case you don't quite make it to the end
of the next 2 years. What does "barely making the two
year contract period" mean? Phones pretty much work
or they don't work. If you break it you break it. Usually
doesn't have much to do with age. Spend $40 on a
couple of cases/pouches/covers/whatever. Phones
(the mechanical parts) will last much longer than 2
years.

Sounds like you just get tired of your phones before
the end of 2 years. In that case, your value on that
is pretty subjective and no one is going to be able
to answer that for you.

If you want someone to tell you the economical
thing to do (which you already know, right?) then
go with the 2 yr. plan(s).
