agreed, PC games are just fine. I used to throw my money away on consoles. Bought the Sega CD when it first came out and payed 300+ dollars for it and it was a flop from the beginning .

No, stick a DC on a VGA box and it will beat the Piece'o SH|T 2 like a red headed stepchild! PS2 lacks AA which makes most of its games jag-tastic! Play Nascar 2001 some time, I played it at a display in a game shop. Can we say complete and utter sh|t? The graphics are horrible and the system is hard to program. My friend bought on and the only saving grace of the POS is Metal Gear Solid 2.
Somebody call Guinness. I'm about to go zero to drunk in twenty dollars!
I'm gonna get one. But I haven't reserved it. Mainly cos I live in two places at once. My own place + my parents place. The XBox will stay in my parents place. I do have a comp there aswell, but I have all these pesky kids as relatives and when they come, I lock my room. So, when the xbox arrives, they can annoy anyone else with the xbox.
BTW, does anybody know if anyone has any Linux plans for the XBox? I know MS will try to restrict any third party development to games and stuff only authorised by them. They'll also probably try to restrict hardware development such as mice and keyboards. But, they will have to give in, cos internet connection using gamepads will be crap!

Because it sucks!
And will not be better than the PS2 and the X-box!
Want a third reason?
Because the games will come in a proprietary support! just like the other nintendos!
Damn! No fun being limited to only 100 char signatures !!
BTW, because of the proprietary support the games are too darn expensive and they are not as good as the games for Sega and Sony consoles! 9 out of 10 games from Nintendo are crap!
Damn! No fun being limited to only 100 char signatures !!
I don't see how M$ can restrict 3rd party development in hardware AND software- that's illegal. That's like trying to ban all software but M$'s from working with Windows.
Nintendo bumped the release back. Cuz of parts stortages. Well nintendo is very smart for this. So coming at early and a part stortage happens. Gamecube could sell around $500 like the ps2 and there storages. Well gamecube is the only system starting around $300.00 isnt the Xbox around $500.00 and its made in the US.
Look at this. Remember SNES and Sega Genesis. Remember how Genesis was a better system hardware wise. But nintendo won cuz of software. Same thing all over. Well the gamecube isnt the fastest hardware wise but will at the end. I'm looking at SNES success for this system.
Its microsoft we're talking about. They'll do something! They tried ever so hard to convince its not a PC in box for the living room. They'll try to make sure it stays that way, even if its only for a while.

First, I'd like to say that it was actually the Genesis that was technologically inferior to the SNES. The Genesis used two 8-bit processors with 16-bit emulation. For 8-bit games (crappy graphics) it could run fast. For 16-bit games (decent graphics) it ran slow. Therefore, there were very few true 16-bit games for the Genesis. Most were written with 8-bit code.
The SNES on the other hand was a pure 16-bit system. It ran 16-bit games faster than the Genesis. Hence the vast majority of the games on the SNES had better graphics than games on the Genesis.
Second, and this is to the general public, I never said that the Nintendo Game Cube was the best thing in the world. I simply wanted to know why a PoS like the PS2 was listed in the survey, and yet the NGC wasn't. Just because a person does not intend to purchase an X-Box does not mean that they think the PS2 rocks. To be fair, all competition (including the PC) should be possable poll choices.

Did you know that Linus said the Mac Os X core was crap. The Macintosh guys were a bit pissed of especially cos they initially tried to hire him when they were planning the core. He's funny. I don't think he'll ever work for Micro$oft, though.

Don't all of you that are putting down the PS2 realize the fact that PS2 can still play PS1 games(worth about $100 right there), includes a DVD player(again at least worth a $100), and also is fair amount more advanced than a dreamcast (oh and more upgradable, anyone notice that humoungous space left in it?)? Also most of you already have a computer plenty capable of playing the same games that will be made for the XBOX and also produced for the PC. Sure the XBox will most likely be gaurenteed to not crash, although now that it is running a M$ OS that thing might crash afterall. ;-) So anyway, I say keep your PS2 or buy one, its definitely worth it. Who wants a entire system designed by microsoft anyways? (i myself am not anti-MS btw, i dislike linux just as much lol, however i am anti-mac )
And what happens if we just so happen to already own a PSX and a DVD Player? What then is the point of buying a PS2?
It's stunning graphics? Ha. The Dreamcast's graphics look better on the games that I've seen.
Because it's upgradable? Yeah, like I want to spend yet more money into a game system I'll rarely ever get use out of.
It's vast selection of games? As if. It's a pain in the butt to program PS2 games. That system was definately NOT designed with the coder in mind. I've already heard rumors of companies planning to take their titles to other platforms just for that reason alone.
So I ask again, just why should I purchase a PS2?

As part of Microsofts promise to Gamers, most Xbox games will be out well before the PC gets them. In fact some games designed initially for the PC are now coming to the Xbox first (Halo). They know their biggest mistake would be to allow massive ports of PC titles to the Xbox.
Sega, Namco, Konami, and Capcom. All these companies are making Xbox titles. I have rarely seen these companies games show up on the computer.
Sure the PS2 is upgradeable, but the simple fact is while people will be dropping their hard earned cash on upgrades for the PS2, most of that is included in the Xbox already.
Xbox has 4 USB ports (High potential for peripherals here)
10gig HD
Ethernet port
8MB memory Card.
The only thing you will have to buy is additional controllers and the DVD remote control. (Same as the PS2)
The only thing I am sceptical about is the Japanese support of the Console and the Windows OS running inside of it. I seriously doubt it will crash, but still it's Microshaft.
Sony expects people to buy thier system, buy a 4 port controller expansion, buy the extra controllers, buy the dvd remote, buy the console verticle stand, buy the broadband adapter, buy the dial-up adapter...am I dont yet?
Nope buy the future hard drive expansion and buy memory cards for saved games.
Damn, well you could get a pretty sweet gaming PC for the cost of that or a Xbox and 10 games.
I am a PS1 owner and I was severly dissapointed with the whole PS2 fiasco, I can imagine someone who spent 500-700 dollars for that thing on ebay. They would have been better off delaying the console than releasing it and not even being able to supply those that even reserved it!
If you take a truth and follow it blindly, it will become a Falsehood and you a Fanatic.
Anyone here think that the Xbox is going to be all hype? I think it will suck as bad as the PS2 by the time it comes out. They'll probably delay it forever as well. Not that many people actually bought the PS2 off Ebay. Personally I think the PS2 would be more worth you money by the time the Xbox comes out. It will have 3 times the games and they will be in thier third generation by then. Just face it, Microsoft has no clue on how to make a console. Xbox will be nothing but a massive PC port console.
