well i am about half way through...should have could have beat it this
afternoon

it has to be the longest of the entire game....

thought it was quite amusing to hear cj tell the villian that he was not
a gangsta if he had to wear a bullet proof vest and then hav to use it
himself to throughout out of the building...

some suggestions...
shoot everyone in a room....
the goggles are useless after you get use to the terrain
sometimes you can use the extinguisher to knock half the fire out and
skip around it....
at the end just run by the last shooters

the outside part is quite challenging......
maybe sometime next week i will pass it....

that last bit is all about being careful. It's easy to get your car
tangled round some obstacle then you're out of it. But even then I
managed to hit a tree last time and still catch them and complete.

Try this: once you've escaped from the burning building, go save. You'll
fail the mission on the way to save, of course, but, when you reload, the
action will start outside with the fire truck. You won't have to do the
building raid again -- just the fire truck chase. (You still use the
mission-start marker in front of Sweet's house.)

This mid-mission save is a nice one for playing with the solo train engine,
too. When you chase the fire truck, as you get near Unity Station, you'll
pass a moving train engine (no cars). The engineer brings it to a stop and
bails. Abandon the mission and play with this engine. It accelerates
rapidly (because it's not pulling anything), and when it derails, it can be
spectacular, flying through the air long distances. It's a fun toy. As far
as I know, this is the only way you can get your hands on a lone engine.
Train derailments are usually quite boring, but you can get some good ones
with this engine.

After it's derailed, you can push it around quite easily on foot. It's
almost frictionless, and you can push it onto streets and freeways for some
fun. (All derailed engines and cars slide around like they're on ice -- not
just the lone engine.)

I kept thinking I'm sure someone mentioned a mid mission save on this.
Has anyone else tried saving that blue tank thingy? I delieberately
failed the mission so i could save it but when I went to my garage
later in the game it had gone!

you ought to try it again... this is from the bullet proof car faq from
gamefaqs.com.

http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/grand_theft_auto_sa_bulletproof.txt

------------------------------
5.31: S.W.A.T. (aka SWAT Tank)
------------------------------
Location: Los Santos II
Mission: End of the Line
Character: Sweet

The last mission in the game features this unique vehicle, otherwise known as
the SWAT Tank. Note that it is seen twice, but you can only take the first one
in the mission. It's not as big as the Rhino and most certainly can't blow up
cars on contact. However, it has a water pistol that's fun to screw around
with, and is also naturally Bulletproof. You can also do Vigilante with this
thing, but the lack of an ability to do a drive-by kinda screws it up.

Method one
----------
Drive over to the crack palace as normal, then arm your weapon and head to the
SWAT Tank. Some Ballas will be having a gunfight with some cops, kill them all.
Take the SWAT Tank and ram into the wall as normal. Don't worry about the
Ballas shooting at you: The SWAT Tank is Bulletproof. Once you do so, it's as
simple as going to park it in a garage and killing yourself. Note that if you
continue on to do the mission, the SWAT Tank may vanish from your garage.

In case you want to know, the second SWAT Tank is seen in the crack palace. You
can't get it out of there, however.

Method two (from MrHurcules)
----------------------------
The S.W.A.T. tank from "End of the Line" can be saved without killing yourself,
getting busted, or *worst of all* using cheats. First, get the S.W.A.T. as you
normally would. Then, drive it to the import-export crane in San Fierro. To
fail the mission, use the crane to lower the S.W.A.T. into the water. When it
is submerged, the game will think the S.W.A.T. is destroyed, thus failing the
mission. Then, simply raise it from the water and onto the dock and drive it
to a garage to save.

Method three (from MrHurcules)
------------------------------
"It has come to my attention that the S.W.A.T. is not explosion-proof. Thus,
the easiest way to steal it is to drive it into your garage and blow it up with
satchel charges or something to fail the mission."

Cheers bryan, those last two look like good bets
