hi all, i have a PIII 550mhz SLOT 1, 700 some odd mb ram and a Readeon 9200 256mb computer and i'm planning on upgrade this computer into a duel core amd, and i would love to try my hands on overclocking b4 i do the upgrade so if i screw up i have somethign to fall back on. and i am a total newbie at overclocking........... all i know is that if i increase the voltage going through the cpu and ram it would run faster and that this suggest that i can fry something (hence the not do this to upgraded pc part) so can someone help out?

I think the voltage increase is for after you have overclocked your system. Try changing the timings of your ram, and your FSB if your bios lets you. being that it's that old I'm not sure.
