so im reading on here about OC'ing these two procs. let me see if i have it straight. OC'ing the 3200+ will give you more than OC'ing the 3500+? i was going to go with the 3500+ but if the 3200+ will give me better output then i will change my mind. this will mostly be for games. however i do rip dvds with DVD shrink. i do not want to be in the same boat in a year where i have to upgrade again to keep up with the new games.

Thanks

It's all luck, but normally and common sense tells you that the 3500+ is a higher quality chip due to the fact it needs to run 200mhz faster by stock, so normally it'll overclock better.

What ScottChen said...

OCing is 'luck of the draw'. OCing a Venice core is kindof like stacking the deck though.

Since the 3500 is already screened to run faster than a 3200, it will probably top out (other things being equal) at a faster clock rate than the 3200. 3200 will give you a 'better overclock' in percentage (lets say they both can hit 2.6ghz - the 3200 is a 30%OC, 3500 is only 18%). But, the 3500 is more likely to hit a higher clock (say 2.7ghz), even though the % oc is lower (23% in that case).

Mike.

a good entry kit, excellent performer, very quite, but i'd recommend a bigger radiator if you plan on cooling your video card with water as well.
