Hit 2500 Mhz at last! (2700 BIOS Boot)

New BIOS on my MSI Neo2 Platinum (1.8) have allowed me to push this winchester to 2500Mhz, from stock 2000Mhz.

Idle Temp 30c~
Load Temp - 10mins of prime (yes I know!) 31c~

Using 1.63Vcore
250FSB * 10
RAM divider 166 = 208Mhz(DDR416)

It's taken a while guys, seems every new BIOS I've been able to get a little more out of it

BIOS won't let me :frown: - Max I can seem to get is 1.65, but I could push it higher using a Windows Tool (Core Center)

I'm guessing it is the CPU or the board with isn't a good overclocker.

I just bumped the Vcore using Core Center to 1.68 and pushed the FSb up by 1, instant crash?! lol.

When I bought the chip I wanted to aim for 2.5, so at least I'm there. This BIOS revision now reports by CPU temp is down a lot though, it used to be 40ish, now it is 30ish.

My money says its your board. Can we have some peace and quite now that you have done this

ASUS P5WD2 Premium
Intel 3.73 EE @ 5.6Ghz
XMS2 DDR2 @ 1180Mhz

SuperPI 25secs

Just remembers the HTT mult was 4 (4*250 = 1000 (max)), put it to 3 and I was able to get the CPU to 2700Mhz in the BIOS.

Unfortunatly can't get 2600 prime stable.

2500 is stable as a rock, although I think the temp sensor has gone crazy, it seems stuck at 31 - even after I disconnected the pump the temp didn't change!

Many of the symptoms you have and are now describing sound like a voltage starved CPU. I wish that I knew for sure how much voltage your board is delivering.

I have an Antec PSU 420W (I think), and the board suggests that I might be delivering 1.63 / and CPU-z confirms that

hehe. you just reminded me I left my rig at 265x10 when I went to bed last nite... Means I'll probably be suffering 'irritated flatmate syndrome' when I get home, as rome:TW will probably keep crashing on him  .. 3dMark '05 was crashing (well, exiting) when it got to the second CPU test, so it ain't 100% stable, and this is with around 1.6V

I would like to get 2.7, but that's probably wishful thinking with air.

Ah well... At least I seem to have brought my old 8RDA+ back to life, so flatmate can have a proper computer for a change & be grateful instead..

Eh? My PSU is doing fine, all the rails are bang on.

I didnt mean the PSU was weak, I meant that the board may have trouble handling the power after the PSU delivers it.
