Heya guys. From what alot of ppl say, the Thermalright XP-120 is the best air cooler for CPU. I like the fact that it lets u choose which 120mm fan you like. It says it recommends the panaflo 120mm which i looked up and don't quite like. Its pushes 68.9CFM at 30dBA at 1700rpm, dimensions 120x120x38mm. I looked up further for 120mm fans and found a one which i think is kickass. The Thermaltake DC Fan Series-Thunderblade. Link: http://www.thermaltake.com/dcfans/led/thunderblade120.htm
It pushes 78CFM at 21dBA (which is astoundingly nothing) and has a dimension of 120x120x25. I'm just wondering if one of these would work on an XP-120. Its thinner and A LOT lighter. The fact that it pushes so much air and bascially no noise... um. Is this true? is all this info true? If so then this fan would be kickass right? if it went with the XP-120. So why doesnt Thermalright recommend this fan? Anyway, i really want one of these if they work.
Any comments? =p

I dont see why it wouldn't work. I've got a panaflo on my XP-120 and it kicks butt so that Thermaltake should work just fine :)
My 3500+ never goes over 35C under load, that ain't bad. I keep the fan between 5v and 7v with my Fan controller.

sweetness! i just can't believe it can push so much air whilst keeping noise levels down. Oh hey! another question. What dBA is JUST noticeable, like bearable (with the sides on?). I'm planning to build a new kickass quietER rig.

Doesn't that all depend on how sensative you are to noise? and where your computer is located?

If you have the side panel off, on your desk, keeping all componants under 20Db should be silent. You will still have background noises of your house/apt. If this is for a sound studio where even the tiniest sounds are heard...you want to keep it under 15Db.

If it has its side panels on, on a carpeted floor, in a room with a desk and random other furniture(to absorb sound) if you keep all componants below 35Db you shouldn't notice it too much unless your specifically listening for it or you are super sensative to sounds.

These are just my opinion on Db's. Its all subjective.

My boss is almost deaf in one ear from having an old scsi workstation next to him for years. He can't hear his tornado fan, lol.

Sorry, but that's just dishonest advertizing, there are no 120mm fans that push even 70CFM at less than 24db

That thermaltake fan's loud as hell, my Silverstone 120mm fans, which are rated for 110CFM at 39dBa, and it's quiter than the thermaltake, while it pushes soo much more air. So you know the Thermaltake is at least 40dBa.

damn so its fake? thats really really stupid... So which fan is teh ebst, that pushes the most air and is at a resonable noise level? well, like pickxx said, anything under 35dBa and we shouldnt be able to hear anything with side panels on, carpet floor and everything (sounds quite a resonable judgment). So should i look for the best CFM under 35dBa?

Thanks you guys! =)

I like Panaflows, but you have other suggestions as well.

You told me about this fan before and it's still amazing that it can double the cfm of most fans at less then 40Db.

my new build got pushed back :frown: :frown: :frown:

I have to save money to go to the east coast for 16days in late july and i am being FORCED to go to Vegas in Aug...   Well maybe i am not being forced.

It sucks that i have all my parts picked out and i have 90% of the money to buy them but can't do it for like 4months.

Why will i have to choose new parts in 4 months?
the parts i want now will still be out there.

I dont really worry about the next new thing around the road. I figure out what i want, read reviews and talk to people who have the parts. THen i shop around and get them.

I might make a couple minor changes because i will be able to afford a step or two up in the CPU maybe from a 3200+venice ro a 3700 SanDeigo....And for GPU, prices and what deals i can find will dictate what i get as i have about 4 cards that i want.....all of which i hope to drop in price as time goes on.
