Is it possible to OC an a64 past 2.2ghz with pc3500 ram on nf4 mobos? Not certain if the cpu:ram ratio could be adjusted.

There are many ratios, 200/166/133/100. meaning 200FSB to those mem clocks, i myself am using 133, so my CPU HT is running at 300, while my ram is only running at 200.

Yeah Ive found the concept of Memory divider. At first, I'll try to set my cpu to 2.4ghz (240x10) and use memory divider at 9/10. This should dish out 216 on my ram.

Ok Just got the parts in and build the rig.

So Far I got the chip running 2400 at 1.35v with htt 240, mult at 10, and the mem divier at 9/10.

However when I boot up, post check only detects as ddr 380 and not 433. Is this normal? Is my ram going at ddr 433?

Its runnin at HTT 240 with HTT mult at 4. 5 would made it exceed 1ghz. The CPU multiplier is at 10

Do ram diviers make your cpu's overclock worthless?
For example i'm running a NewCastle 3500+ @ 2.53ghz and my ram is running at 180mhz by using a divider of 5:3.
My HTT is 230mhz and multiplier is 11.
Does it matter which multiplier to use, since you can lower the multiplier and raise the HTT, yet still run the ram at lower speeds.

Before intergrate mem controllers on the chips, there was performance loss when not using 1:1 ratio but now with the a64s thats not the case.

The only time you would want to drop multi to raise HTT is to sync it with you ram but only if you have high-end ram.

Very good. Now, when the system is overclocked, i have graphic corruption and flickering issues with a 9800 Pro when playing games, and i get crashed to desktop with the vpu recovery message. What can be wrong? Antec 330w - not enough power?

Do you have VPU recover on?

What kind of OCing are you doing?

VPU Reovery is on.
I OC a NewCastle 3500+ to 2.53ghz using a multiplier of 11 and a FSB/HTT of 230. The ram is set on a 5:3 divider meaning, according to CPUZ, CPU/14. Therefor Memory is running at 180mhz. The problem seems to only be with the graphic card because many programs other than games run fine and the system is stable.

Try disabling VPU recovery. It actually uses some of your resources and in your case it could be causing a paradox.

I ran into this when I was playing CoD with that on.

How does your benching work out? If stable then it probably an app issue.

I Started 3DMark05 and a few seconds after the video started it froze and the screen turned black so i had to hit the restart button. Before i overclocked i did get once in a while a VPU recovery message.
I'm sure it's not a temperature issue.
I am leaning towards a psu issue. Maybe the card isn't receiving enough power and when overclocking the system draws more power causing the vpu recovery message to appear more frequently, in every game after a few seconds!
My OCZ Powerstream 520W will arrive in a week.

That sounds consistent. If you have rails going below 5% then its time to replace the PSU.

The more you OC, the more watts the rig will comsume, especially these a64 chips. I can get my venice 3200 to chew more than 200 watts on my higher OC setings.

Uh yeah that explains why for VGA card cannot perfom since the 12v rail is way too low. My 9800pro would go on strike if it could not get teh 12v rail within 5%.
