hi, i have 2x512mb OCZ EL Gold VX PC3200 dual channel ram, and i would like to know, at its default setting 3-3-3-8 (2.8 w) how long will it last? At its factory recommand setting 2-2-2-8 (3.2 w) how long will it last? and at its factory free extended warrenty of no voiding the warrenty at 3.5 w how long will it last?

i have haeard that they wil die fast (2-3 years) at 3.2 and 1-2 at 3.5, is this ture? or will suffcient cooling help? If so is this case provide enough air flow (with 1 120mm fan) or should i mod to put another 120 mm fan on the side pannel to suck the hot air out?

They're engeneered to run at that voltage, it is true that running at voltage these high can shorten their lifeaspan. Do you have a link that state they will die fast? Id be interested! but they offer lifetime warranty anyhow!

And yes this case is rather good, I would put a 120mm as intake if you can make it fit!

well in the cpu forum someone said that they will die fast because of the voltages.... and that i didn;lt en up gettign the case... cheap arsed dad...... got me a case with 1 120mm rear that i'm using it as an intake as that he don't believing in overheating and melting of stuff..... he didn;t even allow me to buy a damned 80 mm to stick it as a intake... maybe i move the 80mm on the top of the case to the intake fan spot and use the back 120mm as the out spot

ATM i got 1 back 120mm as intake, 1 80mm at the side as exhaust and 1 80mm on the top as exhaust...

i dont' know if ppl pointed this out, but in the real world, its measured by voltages.. haha. anyways, 120mm intake at the back is sufficient as long as you don't OC that much. depending on what HSF you have on your cpu, the draft of that cooler will help cool off the RAM. but other than that, you don't really have to worry about the temps and burning your RAM.

and for the OCing and killing your system, the answer is YES. no matter what kind of OC it is, moderate or extreme, it'll affect the life span of your system. so thats why i always start OCing at the end of my rig's life cycle.

tell your dad that having an Intake blowing cool air over the hard disks is going to help their lifespan too.
