When I play games the graphics are perfect etc and my ping is great and I get good aquamark scores but when I play HL2 deathmatch it seems my cpu is being bottlenecked the mouse responds late etc cant spin around good/fleuently. No artifacts so far and my setup is 3700 san diago stock and 7800gtx OCed to 490 core 1300ram in fatal1ty an8 sli mb. Any opinions? Thanks!

That cpu will most likely not bottleneck your system. I have the exact same one granted its overclocked, but have never had a problem with bottlenecking while being set at stock settings. I've had my gfx card oc'd on stock too and I didn't encounter any problems. If you were being bottlenecked, you'd notice it in your benchmark scores.
- Do you have mouse filter enabled in hl options? (dont know if this will help).
- Do you have wireless mouse?
- What fps do you get while playing and how many people are playing at a time?
- What is the temp your card gets under load?
- How much Ram do you have?

sounds like something else, not either of the CPU or Vid Card.

i'm runnign a stock 37000+ and a stock 6800GT at 1600x1200 with 6x AA and 8 x AF and it runs fluidly above 70FPS virtually everywhere in Counterstrike.

sounds like something else is the problem

biggest culprit that people overlook in gaming, when there's a serious lag in controls is their mouse. often Wireless Mice produce a bad lag.

Agree with the mouse.... can you check the fps?
and how many background threads/programs, how much me is in use b4 you start the game?

If it is a delayed spin kind of thing do the following:

Install Coolbits,
Goto the driver settings, enhanced Direct X settings, and alter the Max frames to render ahead to 0

What does that max frames render ahead feature do? Should I just leave it at default if I dont' have any problems?
