Whenever I overclock my 7800gtx using coolbits, I get 505/1380. Thats fine but when I run CS:S for about 5 minutes, I hear this strange sound and it just freezes the computer completely. I don't believe the card is getting too hot either. Why would that happen? When It's not overclocked it doesn't do this.

I played Doom3 for about 15 minutes and it closed out instantly. I checked the temps there after and they were in the mid 50's. Is it that stupid 78.01 driver I just got?

Sounds like the core won't do that speed - Simple as.

Well It did that speed for a while maybe 2 weeks but ever since I Oc'd to 2.8 (stable for 1hr+ in prime) it would do it. One time, All the textures in cs:s were just black. What happens is it makes this weird noise and it shows 300fps and it freezes. I'm running at that same speed now but at 2.6 gHz and it doesn't do that at all. What also would happen was that the frame rate would jump all around from 100 down to 30 for a split second then back up. It would repeat this so that the colors of the fps counter would go from green to red continuously, providing choppy play. I guess this card doesn't like that speed on the processor or something.

Prime doesn't stress the graphics card at all - Games / 3D Mark does that.
