New England is pretty nebulous. You need to detail where you want to
use it. Do you want to use it in downtown Boston or do you want to
use it in North Whitefield, Maine? In the urban areas T-Mobile should
work fine. If you want to use it in the woods it's likely not a good
choice for you.

You'll probably get better answers in other newsgroups.

For example, alt.cellular.gsm.carriers.voicestream (what T-Mo used to be
called) or alt.cellular. Not alt.cellular.verizon.

Good luck.

T-mobile (which used to be voicestream) has its own group at
alt.cellular.gsm.carriers.voicestream

In general, T-mobile has less expansive coverage than Verizon
(especially away from cities), but where T-mobile does cover, their
coverage quality is nearly on par with Verizon. They are cheaper than
Verizon on most rate plans.

T-mobile has a very detailed coverage map on their website ("under
personal coverage check" ). Other companies usually have equivalently
detailed maps, but you have to stop by a store to see it.

Most ratings companies rate Verizon's and T-mobile's customer service
much better than the rest, with Verizon slightly better than T-mobile
overall.
