ASUS M4A89GTD PRO USB3 Doesn't recognize sata hardrive

ASUS M4A89GTD PRO USB3- Windows 7 doesn't recognize sata hardrive when installing operating system. Tried loading driver off of motherboard CD but no luck?? Is there another driver I need to down load. Hard drive is Western Digital 650GB, 3GB/S sata, G Skill 4MB memmory, AMP Phenom 1090P x6 Black Edition. System recognizes HP DVD and also USB CD ROM.

  1. It is very likely to do with how the drive is set up in the bios.
    You should have an option in the bios to set the drive up as a single drive on a sata port.
    You may have the raid function turned on in the bios, turn it off and set the mode to AHCI
    Also make sure the Sata cable to the board is plugged in to sata port 1 ect connector, not one that may say Sata Raid.
  2. Is the disk recognized in the bios?
    If not, check power cable and SATA cable.
