For programming needs, I'm looking for the sharpest text quality 17" monitor.
What's your opinion about my main candidate SONY E220E?

I can't make a personal comment about that particular monitor, but try reading some reviews, perhaps at cnet.com if that monitor's been reviewed there.

There's lots of good 17" Monitors with great text based on pcworld.com top 17" montiors...go check out their site.
