I got this old slot 1 computer with a celeron 333.... kind of slow.
It's a Shuttle Hot 637v3.1 with latest Bios 637awiqb

The readme on the Bios mentions support for Pentium III CPU.

Does anyone know if this motherboard will take a P3... and if so... which
ones?

The manual only shows 50, 60, 66Mhz clock (or 75, 83 overclocking) and
2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, and 5x clock multiplier.
It is a Intel 44LX AGP chipset.

be cool,
Wayne

I know there were Slot 1 P3's made. I've got a Coppermine 850mhz
version in an older PC that was an upgrade over the original Slot 1
processor that came with it (500 mhz I think). But that's running on a
100mhz bus. You might find you have to underclock whatever you can
find.

Also, at one point I remember seeing ads and reviews for Slot 1 to
Socket [???] adapter that would let you run newer CPU's as well.

When the Pentium III was introduced, the 440 LX chip set had already
been replaced by the 440 BX chip set. There are no Pentium III chips
using a 66 MHz bus. The fastest Pentium II for a 66 MHz bus is the
333. There may be some Celerons with a higher clock using the 66 MHz
bus.

The best bet at this point in time is to simply replace the board
along wit hthe processor.

What's the differences between PPGA and FC-PGA.
This 440LX motherboard is running a celeron 333 socket370 that
is in a Slot1 converter (so Slot1 CPUs aren't my only option).

Are these flip-chips a whole nother bread to my Celeron 333.

be cool,
Wayne
